Great selection of wood but bad customer service. Windsor Plywood Burnaby is a lot more friendly to shop at. I'm not a large volume customer by any means but still probably spend a few thousand a year at PJ. On more than one occasion I have been met with hostility from employees. Today it was because I needed quartersawn wenge which was only at the bottom of the wood pile, not easy to get to because everything is stacked vertically instead of horizontally like at most other wood distributors. we pulled a good amount out to access it and were met with anger from the warehouse employee because the pallet was no longer neatly organized. I'm sorry but if you aren't going to organize woods conveniently for customers don't get mad at us when we're trying to get access to something you have out for sale.

This place is like Aladdin's Cave to me: A conveniently- located, excellent source of superior-grade plywood, hardwood and softwood lumber- the sort of stuff that you will never, ever find at any of the chain home- or construction supply places. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful, and unlike most other places I've been to they don't mind if you sort through the stock to find the pieces that best suit your need (as long as you tidy up after yourself - please don't be the jerk who ruins it for the rest of us!) Prices are by 'board-foot' rather than per unit, and as of yet have NOT been affected by the dramatic price increase of construction materials.

Love this place and could not do my job without them! They have more varieties than you could hope for and the staff are knowledgable and friendly. Shout out to my favourite newfie, Ken - he'll get you sorted in the yard and point you in the right direction. Also, if you are a current student at trades school ask about their discount!

More of a self service. I went to the office and was told to go to the bay by the alley to pick the wood and they would tally me up after getting the wood. I had to go through piles of wood to select the ones I thought were a good cut. The cuts of wood are irregular and not exact. You can find a handful of great pieces. Once I was ready to go, the guy who tallied my pieces up seemed irritated and felt like he didn't want to talk to me. He seemed very rushed with me and just wanted me to leave. The office services were fine, and the guy at the front was nice. Overall it's hard to find high quality hardwood with this kind of selection, I found what I wanted. I just didn't feel welcome at all there and you'll get no help when picking your pieces. Another guy was asking for help, but nothing, so he eventually just left. Prices aren't listed and the wood is $$$.

First time visiting a lumberyard ever today. I accidentally drove into the area where customers were not suppose to enter, Niel directed me to where to park. Parking is across the road, don't make same mistake driving into the company truck's parking spot! Met Ian in the office, super welcoming and explains to me what I can do and how I can get my lumber. Amazing collection of wood, my first visiting there and I know I'll be back there again. Ken, one of the fellas in the warehouses, helped me measure the board feet and cut the wood to length (after paying for the wood first!) to fit my car. Pretty awesome experience, as a wood beginner, I'd return there again to get more lumber for my projects. Note: you'll have to buy the whole lumber, can't choose one and bring home half.
