08-16-2023 18:21UPDATE: I received my bill and it was 33% higher than the original estimate. This was a routine test nothing was done differently or added during the visit. I called Customer Service which is the billing department and they could only tell me what they saw on the screen. My insurance claim and bill also didn't match the bill sent from the hospital. My insurance has an business services line item while the hospital bill hid it within in another charge No one knows that that is or can explain it. To get answers on my bill I have to talk to the following departments because not departments have answers. Registration Facilities Customer Service / Billing Records Not transparent at all. ******** Do not go here for lab tests or anything They lie and lead you around on payments. Once again Baylor Hospitals proves shows it is all about taking your money and not actually helping people. I had a lab tests requested by my PCP. I received a call to schedule my tests. I was told how much I would owe but could not get a detailed itemized list. I also asked for a payment plan. I was told both would be available at registration. Well I get to registration and told that the payment plan should have been done at scheduling and I had to put a deposit down now. Get the run around scheduling should have known, I should have gotten a call 2-3 days before the appointment.... not of which happened. Unless you count the automated after hours calls where where you cannot speak to anyone. I asked if there is anywhere that states payment is due upfront. I am pointed to a sign that is behind a bottle of hand sanitizer. There is no documentation upfront anywhere. No clear rules or policies, feels more like a scam to get as much out of people they can. Also, they cannot give you a bill or itemized receipt so you don't know any details of what you are paying for to get any bill or itemized receipt I have to wait 7 days until after the service. This is a schedule test all actions and activities are known upfront. Why I have to wait 7 days is crazy. I have talked to pre-registration, registration, billing and customer service and no one can give a straight answer. No one really cares about the patients. On a side note, the staff at the lab were very friendly.
