Himley Country Hotel

I know this place is pretty cheap, but it really needs a bit of care and upkeep. Our room was OK apart from a slight mould smell, problems with electrics(the TV turned off if I tried to turn the bedside light on!, also no bulb in light), and cracked tiles in bathroom. Our room door had various punch and kicked dents in it and didn't feel particularly safe. It felt like a quick push from outside, and someone would be in! The grounds outside needed some attention, and quite a lot of windows were wet in the double glazing. The staff were friendly when behind the checkin, but this was empty on some occasions. Also, the wifi was non existant, and that is ridiculous. In the end we decided to not stay overnight and drive home.

I wouldn't bother staying here. The room we had was supposed to be a superior twin. The lamps didn't work. The beds were broken. One of the plug sockets was hanging off the wall. The shower leaked. I thought maybe we just got unlucky with the room but after talking to other guests there they were saying the same thing. And it wasn't clean to a standard it should have been. The room we booked was supposed to have a single bed and a double bed but it was just two singles. Which I wasn't really bothered by. But we did pay extra for it. The only reason we stayed there was because the hotel we booked cancelled on us at the last minute and this was all we could afford. One staff member was walking around drinking a can of Stella. Not a good impression.

As it's under redevelopment there wasn't any food. The room was clean but shabby. I don't think one should be charged the full amount when there's o bteamfast

This is by far the worst place I've slept in my life! Had to stay for 2 nights the first night they had to change my room because there were stains everywhere on the bed bathroom dirty. The second room wasn't much better apart from the fact it had a clean bed. Shower flooded the bathroom, no soap mould everywhere in bathroom! The bed has given me a terrible back. Mattress is as thin as a sheet of paper and you can feel every single metal spring digging in to you. Bar also very underwhelming you have to wait about 30 mins for someone to come serve you a pint warm as a cup of coffee with a head bigger than the moon. Awful hotel, awful service avoid like the plague. I wouldn't wish my worst enemy a stay here!

A dive. Rooms and cleaning not up to standard, no wonder it's so cheap. Cob webs and spiders in most corners. Bed and mattress very uncomfortable. No restaurant available as under refurbishment. Checked out a day early, couldn't take it anymore. Go to the bar your looking for someone to serve you. When checking out was stood for atleast 15 mins before someone came to reception as no where to deposit keys.

Booked as a last minute thing but on the great positive side - it can be very quiet and so if you are a light sleeper, this may be ideal. On the downside, the beds as expected at this price point are not the most comfortable however as long as you have a car and are able to get to the local petrol station which is some distance, things are okay. The staff are fairly helpful, and whilst there is a charge for late checkout, it is not prohibitively expensive. It is advisable to try and travel down in the day as it come be hard to find or to get the correct entrance due to the quite dark surrounding road but this helps with the quietness of the surroundings. It is more of a functional hotel - workers and others go there to get some rest rather than a destination hotel. There is a bar and places to sit but otherwise you need to be able to make sure you have the various apps on your phone to order food. If you are used to city center hotels, you will not be too impressed however at this price point and with just getting a rest being a priority, it serves the purpose. I can see that we just a little further direct management, this place could be significantly transformed.

Won’t allow me to add pictures please just don’t come here it’s not a hotel but a shelter for the homeless. I have nothing against people with problems but when you paying for a room you don’t want to have blow coming in through your open window. No phone signal, no internet unless you go outside 250 meters to front door. I will not go in the shower because it’s full of mould and I have no signal on the to. What a night. Please please avoid like Covid

1st time ever in my life I've booked out of a hotel after 1 of 3 booked nights. Boiler had broken down the day before, and I was not told, water still cold the next day. Kitchen closed, no breakfast. Accessibility, none, steep stairs and long corridor, no help. Rubbish left on corridor, still there the next. Collection van outside my window b4 6 am. Sink taps so stiff I had to use a towel to turn on and off. Sprung bed, I felt every one, sheets clean. WiFi unsecure. Staff took my card out of my sight before I could stop them etc etc. I'm waiting a full refund.
