Jamala Wildlife Lodge

I've stayed here 4 times and it never seizes to amaze. The staff go above and beyond to ensure guests have an incredible experience every single time. Food is beyond incredible and payment is worth every cent as it goes towards animal care and preservation programs. This is one of the only places in the world where you can sleep right next to various different animals with nothing but a plane if glass between you. Canberra is so extremely lucky to have this in our own backyard. Big thanks to Richard and family and the Jamala team. See you next time!

Incredible, once in a lifetime experience. I came here in 2015 with my family as the Jamala lodges first opened. Returned again this year, September of 2023. A truly amazing experience, the staff treat you like royalty, no request is to large. Plenty of amazing food, you can’t go hungry. The tour guides are knowledgeable and try to give you a VIP experience getting you close to the animals. We got to pat as White Rino as part of our stay. We also where lucky enough to upgrade to meet the cheetahs, feed the giraffes and so much more. Every moment was incredible.

We were return guests, so we were already converted, but had high expectations this time.... which were met and more! Everything from our booking experience, reception on arrival, the tours and the encounters, our room and dining experience, and the lodge and Zoo staff we interacted with, was just about perfect. Nothing was too hard or inconvenient for the lodge staff; the guides and keepers were informative, patient and helpful, and clearly passionate about the animals and the Zoo; and the other support staff we chatted with expressed real joy to work here. We've been to most of the major zoos in Australia over the years, and we think NZA is head and shoulders above others. A unique experience..... thank you!

Absolutely an amazing experience. We stayed one night with the Giraffe’s and one night with the cheetahs. If your budget can allow it, please please please add this to your bucket list. Also the food was just wonderful. Cannot wait to go back.

Have stayed here a couple of times now and decided to bring our 10 year old son tonight as we’ve previously had the best time here. Have just come to dinner and have been told we won’t be dining where everyone else is, which is with the lions and hyenas. We will be dining up stairs in the lounge instead… This is the part my son has been looking forward too the most about staying here… When I asked why we aren’t dining where everyone else is the waitress told me that’s just how it is and that we can make a complaint tomorrow. If it was just me and my wife then it wouldn’t be as much of an issue… But we feel for our young fella. Previous to this stay I’d have given this place a 10/10

Amazing!!! I can not recommend the capuchin room enough. We had an absolutely fantastic stay. Room, view, meals, staff, staff knowledge and friendliness, the love and passion for what they do, and the animals they care for. It is a wonderful, exceptional experience, not just a boring hotel room. Listening to the animals in the afternoon was Iike no other experience. Dining with the beautiful lions and the aquarium was divine and the staff were very passionate and loved what they do, not just serving food to people but chatting about how they became part of the Jamala family. So fortunate to be able to experience this amazing place and wonderful animals that without our conservation and help could be no longer. Just amazing.
