Great shop, lovely range of fabrics and trims

I’ve just come to the end of my lessons in making a quilt with the lovely Sophie. Her little studio is a bit hidden away, but I thoroughly recommend a visit and you’ll find it hard to leave without booking for some lessons. It was my dream to make a quilt for my new grandchild to be. I had a theme in mind, but had no idea of how to bring it to life. Every step of the way, Sophie helped me to make my quilt “Materialise” into reality. I am so excited to present my beautiful “Schnauzer” quilt to my daughter in law this Sunday at her baby shower. Thank you Sophie for sprinkling your magic over me and turning me into a quilter💖

Customer Profile: Beginner sewer (I'm more pathetic than a beginner), socially awkward and very shy (on the outside I look fine but on the inside I'm crying with fear). I went to Materialise with a massive project that involved something like 40 different pieces of fabric and did not once feel like I was a burden or nuisance. Now you might say that this is normal, that businesses like it when you have something that will bring them money, this is true, but you must also realise that Materialise is a little shop and when I went in there, only Sophie (the owner) was around to help. She made me feel comfortable with my massive order. She never pushed me to change my mind but gave me great suggestions and helped problem solve. She let me browse around her shop picking all the fabric I wanted and never made me feel like I had to hurry up. She got on with her own work, but I knew that if I needed her help she would stop to assist me. It was perfect for me. The shop is tiny, but has a wonderfully extensive range of fabrics, and there is something a little romantic about them being in the folded blocks rather than big rolls. I know nothing about fabric, but I get the feeling that all of Sophie's fabrics are extremely good quality. Nothing I picked up felt like plastic, everything had that high weave feel (if it was normal material and not the hardier fabric). The shop even has a small selection of sewing accessories that seem to be the staples of sewing. I had a wonderful experience in this shop and If I ever have another sewing project, I will definitely be making a stop at Materialise.
