Bonza Bike Tours

Fantastic tour, lasted about 2 hours, mix of different people of all ages. A great way to see the city. Excellent guide, extremely informative. Quality bikes - Trek/Hybrid. (You'll get some fab photos)

Having done a bike tour in Melbourne, the following week and many bike tours all over the world, I feel confident in saying that this bike tour fell far short of expectations. While the route was good, the guide needed serious improvement. Some examples: No introductions were made amongst the group, so consequently, everyone rode in silence for two hours, and there was no banter with fellow cyclists. The stories and history that were shared by the guide were scattered. It appeared difficult for the guide to continue one train of thought through to the end. Unlike other tours we have been on with another guide in the rear to make sure the group stays together, this one did not have that. Consequently, we were separated from the group due to lights changing at intersections and had a bike that dropped a chain. When we did finally catch up with the group after fixing the chain ourselves, the guide seemed non-plussed. While the guide tried to her hardest to take good photos, they just weren't. We even tried coaching and setting up the angle and composition but those were a fail as well. In addition, toward the end of the tour around the bay at the botanical garden towards the Sydney opera house, we had to get off our bikes and push them for a considerable distance over grass and along a sidewalk. Lastly, the bikes were not ideal in that the seats were not comfortable, and the handlebar wasn't upright enough for me. My preference for this type of cycling and sightseeing is an upright touring bike, not a mountain bike.
