Hampton Inn Akron-Fairlawn

Highly recommend. We had a very plesent stay. The rooms were clean, and large. The bathroom vanity was big enough to have all our things out. The room felt welcoming as soon as we entered. And the first thing we saw when we entered the building was a nice coffee bar set up. Even if your not a coffee drinker, it shows consideration to the guests. The only negative was the breakfast was lacking in protein options.

I stayed in room 123 last night. The bed was very basic. I could hear the spring creaking and the padding was minimum. My partner woke up with every one of my turns. The heating/cooling system was not working properly. Last night the outside temperature was 34 degrees. When the heat was on it was probably 85-90 with the thermostat set at 68. When we switched to cooling the temperature was around 76. Too warm still. Constantly waking up due to discomfort. They asked what they could do upon our departure to rectify the problem. First, periodically check the heating and cooling system to determine if it is functioning properly. Two, offer me a refund or have the manager contact me.

Unfortunately this locations quality has gone down hill. I’ve stayed here many times over the years. This last stay will be our last. The room my kids and two year old grandchild stayed was never properly cleaned. Upon arrival we quickly checked in dropping off our gear and departed to visit family. We arrived back very late and went directly to bed. That night my daughter found body hair on the floor. The next morning they found finger or toe nail clippings on the bathroom counter, dried bloody boogers on the shower walls and a cigarette in the window that was left open. It was addressed with the staff. They said they would immediately clean the room. They did not. The body hair was still on the floor, the nail clippings were still left on the vanity. And mysteriously the alarm clock was set to go off at 2am the next morning. ( cleaning staff retaliated) We were promised a room comp or large discount on the room…which we didn’t receive. My wife and I’s room was clean. Just not very comfortable. The mattresses were very firm. The pillows completely flat, our toilet seat was broken. The provided breakfast is basically gas station food. Hampton Inn used to be a quality place to stay. It has become the dollar store of Hilton Brands.

Grimy! We frequently stay at Hampton Inns on vacation because they are so reliable. This location proves there is always an exception to the rule. I noticed a lack of maintenance on the exterior and in the lobby, but I tried to reserve my judgement for the rooms. While the sink, toilet, shower, and bedding all seemed clean, the rest was absolutely disgusting. The ottoman had multiple crusty spots so I immediately covered it with a towel. The desk chair, bed skirt, and window shade all had stains. The walls, headboard, and doors all had schmutz that I had to clean with a wash cloth. The corners and edges of the floor had other detritus. One of our biggest concerns is the lack of toilet paper roll holder in the bathroom. A not-new roll was just sitting on the bathroom shelf. I don’t even want to know how many people have touched it. The hallways were clearly only vacuumed down the middle. All the edges around each room were filthy. They had plug-in air fresheners in the hallways to mask the musty odor we smelled in the rooms. The breakfast area is too small for the size of the hotel. Staff were not attentive to refilling carafes/food or cleaning messes off the counter. There were multiple people having business meetings in the breakfast area, including one Zoom call. It was very disruptive. Side note: This location is mislabeled as 5-star. Clearly no Hampton Inn has 5-star amenities.
