Dayton Public Schools

Failed to inform parents about the bussing issue after promising our kids would make it this year. Have spend over 3 hours on hold the night before school starts because they didn’t send bus info. Last year they held the children responsible for days missed after bus failed to pick up. We work and can’t be expected to miss another year of work. Remote learning should have been an option if they knew they couldn’t pick them up instead of letting parents wait until the day before school to not give any bus info

The fact that DPS has three stars truly blows my mind. The logic that the enrollment department has is part of many reasons they are last as a district in the state of Ohio. The district is a joke and I sincerely doubt it will ever break out of the bottom 100 districts in the state. Your best bet is to get a Ed Choice grant and provide your children with quality education.

Its always somethin with this worthless school district. I was told that i could transfer my childs school within the district but it had to be done either the 2nd week of December or the 2nd week of June. I called down there to see what all i needed just to be told that the period has been changed from sometime in Feb- March, and that I would have to wait until next Feb. I think this is absolutelty ridiculous. I am unsatisfied with the school she is attending I should be able to transfer her asI see fit. Furthermore, there should have been something sent out to parents notifying them of the change. Ugh! I can't with this district!!

Dayton public schools bussing is horrible and they don’t care how u feel school only been in for 4 weeks and we had so many problems with the busses already me and my kids have to go to the bus stop at 615 when it’s pitched dark. And the bus driver literally pulled off and she seen my kids getting out the car!!!!!

My daughter has been there three times school started August 18 and again they changed the appt.. Someone was helping us and then came back with all the paper work and said hi can't help you u your appt is the 10 so once again have to go back... Makes no sense

The people running this district are absolutely the worst human beings. They have very little care for staff or students and are more focused on money. They are incompetent to run a school district and should in fact be deemed unfit to serve. Dayton, you need to raise your voice and vote off the board and remove the super intendant. These people don’t care about our children.

The fact that I have to even give a star is absolutely bonkers Dayton public schools and Dayton Public Schools transportation is a joke. Today I find myself at my child's School to pick her up because Dayton public schools don't have a bus driver to cover the route but yet the Richard Allen's and the stem academies around the area are going to have a Dayton Public School Bus setting there that's right a school bus that clearly says Dayton public. If anybody should have to find Transportation it's a charter school not a Dayton public school with Dayton public school buses absolute joke. The schools are just as laughable my child has constantly going through ridicule and bullying and Dayton public schools has done nothing they keep making excuses people keep telling me they're going to call me people keep telling me they're going to fix things but no one does a damn thing. Then on top of that they hire some of the most rude an unprofessional people the Secretary of Eastman it's absolutely rude and unprofessional not only that but some of the teachers think that being on their phones are more important in educating our children Dayton public schools isn't failing because the children they're filling because there's terrible teachers that are protected and can't get fired Dayton public schools needs change Dayton Public Schools transportation needs change

So even the first contact with registering is a joke. I went to get my 8 year old child registered for this upcoming school year, I had come in the first time in prepared which was my fault, I was given information on what I needed to bring in, birth certificate and report card. Got it. My son was going to Montessori in huber Heights, they do not use actual number grades on report cards. It is listed lower elementary and upper elementary. I called in before driving up again was told that was ok it could be used, made the trip, was still told it was ok, sat there and filled out all the paper work, go to the back, where I was told that was not going to work I have to have a number grade. It was literally said that the school could hand write the number 3 on this piece of paper.....SERIOUSLY?! How is it going to be verified that I made an out of my way trip to have his school hand write the number 3 on this report card? Is this a joke? Is this really how you guys register kids for school? I legitimately actually work 70 to 80 hours a week, that is no exaggeration. I work 8 am to 430 pm and mignight to 5 am most days, I finally get a day off and i am told I have to make a trip to have his previous school hand write the number 3 on his report card before They will accept it.....please, tell me how this makes sense. I await the answer. Oh but then, if your kids are not in school, they may down the hammer, but let's make the process absolutely ridiculous.
