Duo Housing

Good place to meet new people from all over the world! Stuff very friendly,polite and smile. It was really kind to treated. Also big plus that everything is close. This is not expensive hotel so there are some thinks which could be improve. New for me was that at the reception entrance you need take shoe's off. Water little dropped in the shower

I stayed for a week at Duo and was impressed with how clean the 4 bedroom dorm was. The building were its located is not the main building and instead a smaller one, which I found calmer, cleaner, and the facilities were always available (restroom, kitchen). I was pleased with my stay. however, the day I checked out, I stored my luggage since I was exploring the city. When I came back to pick it up, I wanted to heat up my leftovers to eat before I headed to the airport. The worker at registration said I could not use the microwave anymore since I checked out. I found this a lack of hospitality and human decency. He refused to let me use the microwave for a couple minutes and because I had connecting and delayed flights that afternoon/evening, this resulted in me not being able to eat until the following day. I stayed at Duo for a week and being denied the use of the microwave is not how workers there should be trained for a guest that paid a full weeks stay. This is not hospitality etiquette and budgeted travelers are greatly affected by these types of hostility from hostel workers. I do not appreciate how I was treated and had never experienced this type of treatment for a hostel worker before. My good experience with the hostel was ruined and I now cannot erase that memory when I think about Duo. Also, my bed was by the window and the wind blew in during the night right onto my head (the window can only be closed by staff) and the birds started chirping by 5am pretty loudly in the alley where the window is located. I was not going to note these but might as well given my negative treatment.

Stayed there for 3 nights. The room was smelly, and AC didn't work. The room was hot as hell (almost 40c outside). In addition, I had a toe nail on my sheets. The room was too crowded, and there was no space to put your luggage and private stuff. There was no lock to the room, and the locker was too small to put valuable things, such as a laptop. The only two good things about this place are the pancakes (was great!) and the location. Can't recommend that place.

Best accommodation ever in D.C. for its price point. Exceeds expectations. Staff are kind and knowledgeable. And the pancakes they serve for breakfast--they're really good!

Beware very warm rooms. No air circulation Bed comfort: 3/5 avg but no hair, stains or bedbugs Room and amenities: 1/5 super slow internet, most rooms got no windows and they’re very cheap with heating and cooling (dealbreaker). Social ambiance: 4/5 got a shared kitchen hangout area open 24/7.

I had a really good time here. The staff is very friendly and so are all the backpackers here. It felt very safe as there is an access code for the main door. Breakfast is delicious with very good pancakes every day for everybody. It's not perfect but I would definitely suggest staying here, especially to get to know some other people from all around the world.

Rooms are very small . They have 8 bed-space in room. But they put 12 bed,In the first floor. They have approximate 60 Bed but two washroom only ,Wi-Fi is very weak and service is not good when I check in the hostel after checking I just sit on the sofa after one hour reception girl not showing me my bed,room clean washroom are clean, but shower is very slow. They have very good kitchen with all equipment you can make your own food just walking distance from the center . If you wanna stay one or two day then it’s good place, if you wanna stay long, then it’s not a perfect place

Good location. Beware of bed bugs. Rooms are extremely hot. Facilities could be cleaner. The whole taking shoes off at the door is odd. No male only rooms. Showers not really an ideal setup and minimal water pressure. Hi hostel is much better but sadly the DC location is closed.
