11-10-2023 19:09What a wonderful hotel. We stayed for 4 nights to tour Washington DC. The room was spacious and comfortable. Although this is an old hotel, it is upgraded. The bathroom was especially roomy with a make up area. The beds were comfortable. The front desk staff was very nice and accommodating. There is also a secure parking garage that has a door that can only be opened by one of the staff. So we didn't have to worry about someone breaking into our car. The hotel is also within walking distance of the White House and other sites. Just want to mention Omer. He is so friendly and helpful. I forgot a pair of new sandals and didn't notice until we got home that they weren't in my suitcase. I contacted the hotel and Mr. Park - the manager - made sure to get them back to me. I would definitely stay here again were I to come to DC.

11-07-2023 04:19Although the location is convenient to the national mall, this hotel can benefit from both a full remodel update of the rooms and parking. They can also benefit by retraining their staff to be courteous, friendly, and accommodating. There were only two staff members that I had a positive experience with and that was the young, African American girl who checked me in and the tall, slender, Asian doorman who helped us with luggage and parking upon checkin. Let’s start with parking. It’s $48 per day, and it’s supposed to come with in and out privileges. Each time you go out, the door automatically opens, but when you come back, you have to call the front desk to have a staff member to scan their card to let you back in. This was very inconvenient. On two occasions, a staff member very rudely came out to yell at my party because the parking ticket was not in the middle of the dashboard, but had shifted to the side of the dashboard while driving. Then when he let us in, we had to get out of the car and remove the cone that was sitting in the parking space so that we could park, as he stood and watched in that very same garage. On another occasion, another staff member came to open the garage, and instead of directing us to a parking space, he followed the couple behind us and helped guide them into a space. He stood and watched them get out the car and ignored us. It’s as if they want to be compensated for opening the garage for you. For $48 per day, where is the valet service?! And honestly, I feel like the way parking is set up, they really should be offering valet services instead of self parking. There’s no way the guests should have to walk through an underground tunnel, passing the laundry room and employee break room after parking their own cars. In addition, we checked out on a Monday and I asked how long we could leave the car in the garage, and was told only until checkout, at 12. The rooms are dated and the grout in the bathroom looks dirty. As others have mentioned, the drainage is slow as well when taking showers. You can’t properly control the climate in the rooms. Idk if there’s supposed to be a doorman, but I only had the door opened for me twice on a three night stay. Get an automated door if opening the door is too inconvenient. Also, I came in the front door on a Saturday evening and there were four staff members standing at the front desk. Not one of them made eye contact with me and I can’t help but think it was because they could avoid speaking. It’s hard to believe that not one of them noticed me, when there’s such a large homeless population very close to the hotel, in the park on 21st and E. You would think the staff would be cognizant of who’s walking through the front door, especially in the evening hours. All in all, I would never stay here again, nor would I recommend this hotel to anyone. Unfortunately, the two friendly staff members couldn’t save my experience with the many other rude ones.

07-16-2023 18:17Get ready to have your socks knocked off—literally, because at this gem in the heart of Washington DC, you'll want to slide across their ridiculously comfy beds in pure bliss. And get this, the kitchenette is your tiny slice of home, except here, the room service fairies clean your dishes. I mean, who does that? Every day, the bathroom blooms with a fresh supply of fancy suds and lotions, because why not? The staff? They're the human equivalent of a warm hug and a high-five. If you're looking for a place to stay, congratulations, you've hit the jackpot!

04-30-2023 23:03State Plaza Hotel excellent location to visit historical sites. The hotel staff very professional, courteous and friendly. Please note parking $48.00 per day. The rooms are very clean. The living room was fine with a kitchenette. Also very clean. Overall, I loved the location which is actually part of the George Washington University. I felt totally safe. So much Security all around being that you are walking distance from the White House.

04-25-2023 03:45I can't say enough good things about this hotel. Clean comfortable kitchen is a wonderful plus. Great staff Gerard, Amanda, and Ashanti were so helpful. There was a young man in the afternoon that gave us great restaurant ideas sorry I didn't get his name. We travel a lot Europe and in the United States and this hotel was by far the best. I wish we had more reason to go to DC so we could go to this hotel. Don't miss this one!!!! Lynda Herbig

04-06-2023 07:53The rooms here are huge by typical hotel room standards. They include a full kitchen, and mine also had an anteroom/vanity to the bathroom as well as a generously sized foyer and huge closet. The location could be a bit closer to the Metro, but it is pretty close to the Western side of the Mall. Check in was efficient and friendly as was breakfast. It is worth noting that there are 2 buildings which make up this hotel, and there are thus 2 entrances (E St or F St). The buildings are connected through the small underground garage, and it can be confusing to go from one side to the other as the ground floor on one side is equivalent to the 1st floor on the other. The only dissatisfactions I had were: 1. There is a $60 surcharge when checking in for any incidental costs (to be refunded, I was told, within a few business days if no expenses were incurred). 2. The dresser drawers in my room were very musty-smelling. I didn't notice it until I pulled my clothes out to change and they had that smell to them. 3. The bathtub did not drain well. I'd definitely stay here again.
