The worst hospital I have ever been too. My sister was in an accident and admitted to the emergency room and they guy working the check in desk wore a cap name was Sean I think refused to let me see my sister and locked the door on me and the other guy working with him got up and was nice enough to try and let me back even though I had already gotten permission from the nice man. They lied and said my dad had a record when he didn’t and I asked for their supervisors number he refused to give it to me but the nice man working front desk still wrote it down for me to have so I told him thank you for helping me. When my parents asked to come up they guarded the door and refuse to let them in and when asked for their names they laughed and smirked and said no. I have never had such a horrible medical experience in all my life! If could give them negative a thousand stars I would. DO NOT COME HERE!!!

I have to express my extreme desperation and disappointment over having my appointment with Dr. Hain canceled. I waited almost 5 months for this very important appointment and then a week prior to the appointment, I received a phone call canceling my appointment and dismissing me from the practice and refusing to see me . I had been a longtime patient of Dr. Hain and have severe vestibular issues that require his very specialized expertise . I have not received a adequate explanation for this dismissal and I am dismayed that I waited for over 4 months , only to have me be permanently canceled . I consider this improper physician abandonment at the time of my severe vestibular problems in a field where there are just a few otoneurologists in this country of a very specialized field. I do not believe this treatment I received meets the standard of care of The University of Chicago and of Dr. Hain.I called and wrote patient relations at UofC and the woman Maryann told me she will have head of practice get ahold of me and I left message for that person to email me to set up a time to discuss. Haven’t heard a word back from the head of practice. This is terrible treatment from U of C patient relations and this particular neurology dept. How dare the hospital receive endowments and be able to call themselves “ non for profit “ with this sort of treatment . The hospital used to be ok and overall my experiences in other areas are terrible too.

I just wanted to say these are the best doctors and nurses in the state of Illinois! My son and I had to visit the hospital and I will be coming back to this hospital.Everyone in the hospital treats their patients with respect. I had to come in because of my breathing and medical condition. I just moved back home to Chicago my son and I was living in Florida. The moment you enter you are greeted and all the folks that work there they go the extra mile to make you comfortable. You all ROCK!!! Thank you, Donna O’Bryan

Went into the ER yesterday. The receptionist girl with braids w glitter in them. She was so welcoming and sweet. A distraught patient came in and cussed her out, the security and everyone in the waiting room. Threatened everyone. If this is what the receptionist has to go thru every day I pray she quits. She was crying because she was so upset. It was about 35-40 people in the ER. It was no order.

I’m still suffering from the lies of this hospital and me being a first time mother to my premature baby boy that had to be hospitalized 2 months after delivery I believed I didn’t not needed to have a rushed C Section but they still gave me one and did it WRONG they cut my small gallbladder and found this out on second C Section for my second child and not only that after surgery I wasn’t able see my child for a couple days in the NICU I was okay I did not care I wanted to see my baby and they made it worst by releasing me 2 weeks afterwards while my child had to stay why weren’t there any room left for me ? This blew up more then what it had to be I came to visit my child back to hospital just for the security to stop me in the lobby saying I couldn’t SEE MY CHILD I’m still infuriated I don’t know what type of people nurses are running that facility but it is not right then opened a case about it said I threaten to bomb the hospital???? Now why would I do that I asked if they can prove it was me ? They say no cannot disclose that information , why? Because their isn’t any prove and you guys need to be SUED for my suffering malpractice everything that’s coming to this hospital I had to go through the child protective services still until this day I’m young black mother and not that much resources but I’m learning how all this goes and I’m not going to let this happen to another woman like me at this facility this was a horrible traumatic experience since 2018 I still replay saying I should’ve went to another hospital but I was rushed there in ambulance and felt that I can trust them but no more I do not go around threatening people especially a hospital that is taking care of my child I believe it was a set up to get my child token and it’s just wrong taking advantage

By far one of the worst hospitals I've worked at and in medical care for my family member. I worked at the UChicago almost 10 years and while I was employed there I was a victim of bullying and verbal abuse from management. The department manager at that time displayed favoritism and was very unkind or uncaring of her employees and patients. Around that time, my mother was a patient there and received some of the worst care. My mother also was a former employee there. My mother had been transferred from a Hospital in Indiana to UChicago to receive treatment. While my mother was there she fall multiple times and none of the nurse bothered to call us and report the falls. One time, my mother rang her call light and the nurse seems annoyed that she requested to use the bathroom. Another nurse, who apparently was having a bad day started her shift being verbally abusive to my mother. My mother recorded what she said and when we requested the hospital administratorthe nirses on the floor became extremelymean towards our mother and refused her services. One of the nurses in my mothers departmemt was more interested in what department worked for than treating my mother. She displayed an attitude with me the first day. When that nurse visited my department, she realizes who I was and proceded to discuss my mothers medical condition with my other co-worker which means HIPAA violation.When my mother came to the UChicago, she didn't receive a bath in 5 days and when we questioned why we got the worse attitude. She was discharged from the Hospital at 10pm at night. Which was very odd. She later had to go back to hospital due to a severe infection that resulted in her death. If you quality healthcare, try NorthWestern Hosptial, Rush or even Stroger Hospital.

New to Uof C medicine due to job and insurance change. They canceled my appointment three times. it took 10 months to get the appointment for a checkup on medication. in the meantime i had to track down anyone and everyone at my primaries office to get them to fill the script every month due to the canceled appointment. this always took days to weeks and i missed a lot of days of meds due to their internal miss communications and incompetence. At the visit, they ran unnecessary labs their app cost calculator said were covered by my insurance. the labs cost me over $1,000 out of pocket as they were barely covered. don’t use that app. they gave me three months of the prescription i have been on for a decade and i have to go back for the visit and labs to get the script filled every three months for $1000. previous care saw me once a year for easy checkup, never ran labs as the med and my condition does not call for it. they send the reminders weekly that i owe them $1,100 and i have no idea how i will fill my prescription moving forward because i can’t afford $1000 every three months. impossible. criminal like all other healthcare providers and insurers. they claim they have financial assistance… i have not heard back from them and it’s been months of repeat contact and waiting. it is scary to think what others are going through at U of C med.

Their website said a 54 minute wait, 4 hours later after vomiting in the waiting room due to several brain tumors I have a genetic disease. I got a room. After all my tests, they discontinued my IV, They starved me, but finally gave me apple juice 17 hours later, NO FOOD even though the doctor approved me to eat. they don't have air conditioning and it was 113 with the heat index that day, they are very, very, disorganized, majorly UNDERSTAFFED and are severely overcrowded. They stick you in a room, and after they can't decide what to do with you, they put you in a hallway with all the other overflow patients in the ER! You will likely leave worse than you came in!
