Mele

The owner knows his stuff and shop has nice outdoor wear but he was quite rude. I lost count of number of times he told me it is “a specialist shop”. Without asking my budget for a coat he told me that a Belstaff “was not in my price range”! When I asked about gloves he said he had them but they were still boxed up and clearly had no interest in showing me. I left and went and bought the same coat online.

Very good selection of ladies Barbour coats/jackets in size 16/18 which is hard to find in Bristol. Staff very helpful and helped with trying on coats. To the reviewer who didn't like the suggestions I would've suggested just telling them you were happy looking for yourself. As you can't please everyone. I, however, liked the suggestions and help. Prices were competitive and the coat I ended up buying was cheaper on sale here than online. Alot of colours and sizes available which John Lewis and House of Fraser can't compete with (size 16 + almost virtually unheard of). Would use again. Staff very friendly. Highly recommended.

I bought a pair of Dubarry Boots from this store and wore them for less than half an hour round the house to try them out only. They were not comfortable for my spine.I was unable to get back quickly to ask for a refund as my husband had a severe stroke. We had spent well over a thousand pounds at the Clifton store over the past few months. However the manager refused a refund and told me to put them on eBay. I have recently had to go to the trouble of doing that and have lost over £150 on selling them. I will never shop at Mele again and will advise friends to do the same, given the appalling customer service and lack of kindness on behalf of the manager. I appreciate there are rules to be adhered to, but given the amount of money we had spent in the past and the fact the Boots were as new this demonstrates to me lack of customer responsiveness and flexibility..

Wouldn’t give refund on a jacket that the owner pushed me into buying. I would have bought a different style but wasn’t interested in helping. Very poor customer service. Extremely pushy!!!

My wife and I had a very nice experience at Mele. The owner could not have been any more helpful. Very good range of products. We actually went in the shop to have a look for a new Barbour for me, but ended up buying a Barbour for my wife which was at an extremely good price. I would definitely recommend the shop and will be back to get MY new jacket. Thank you. 160123 I have just been back to Mele to buy a new wax jacket and Lee, the owner of the shop, again, couldn't have been more helpful. I ended up buying a superb Barbour Corbridge jacket the price of which was extremely good especially with the discount that I was offered. I have bought quite a few items from this shop over the past years for both myself and my wife and every time I have found Lee extremely pleasant and very helpful. Thankyou again Lee and I will defiantly be back to see you for our next purchase.

Bought some Le Chameau wellingtons online, and decided to buy local from Mele as they are a 10 min walk from my house and if they didn’t fit it would be an easier return. So glad I did. Lee delivered the first pair to me at home. After trying on in my own time I emailed to say they were too big and he ordered the next size down for me. He kept me informed all the way. When he emailed to say they were in I was able to walk to the shop and do a swap he’d also got 2 options for me to choose as I’d mentioned I quite liked the black too. My husband and I have previously bought Barbour jackets from Mele, always good stock and friendly service. Great to be able to buy online and locally.

Very happy owner of a Belstaff Trialmaster leather jacket - hand-delivered yesterday - not shopped at Mele before, but v impressed, excellent communication and service - and price right now best I could find anywhere for an independent store. Will be back

Lee is a fantastic owner, he is extremely knowledgeable about all of his products. Some may not like his outgoing personality but strike up a conversation and you will see he knows his stuff. I will be coming again to have a browse when new stock arrives. This is the place to go for Barbour!
