11-27-2023 03:14The external store design is completely inconsiderate of cyclists: no bicycle parking spaces, poor signage and the one-way exit point seems to go straight on to a massive busy road with no cycle infrastructure. A stressful place to get to and leave from. They don't seem to stock workwear in women's sizes, either.

11-20-2023 20:33SHOCKING! INFERIOR QUALITY WORKTOP u0026 THEIR REPAIR WORK FAILED! ref. Apollo Magna kitchen worktops #1 we had an initial repair on the worktop that had developed a crack at a right angle joint. This repair was unsightly. We’re surprised it was deemed acceptable due to it’s prominent position. However, this repair has now developed a crack! (See pictures) We feel misled about the quality of the fitted kitchen and workmanship Wickes supplied us. Wickes’ literature states they use ‘professional, highly qualified installers’. I doubt that after our experience. I will be seeking independent advice from the ombudsman, trading standards and watchdog. Either the counter was incorrectly fitted or the product is inferior. #2 Furthermore, a new crack has appeared near the drainer 15 inches from the first crack. (See picture) This crack is susceptible to water ingress that’ll damage the inner fabric of the worktop. This is concerning. Its reasonable to expect a kitchen counter would have more longevity than this. All damage is obviously related to some kind of weakness as there’s no heavy loading in this area of the counter. We remember having to sign a waiver form when purchasing the Magna worktop. So in hindsight it appears Wickes knowingly sell this inferior product that’s not up to the robust job a kitchen counter needs to be and they get the customer to sign a waiver form. So basically, Wickes are ducking out of standing by a product they sell. They obviously know the Apollo Magna worktops have some flaws. Why else would Wickes have this ‘waiver’ policy in place. Pretty bad attitude in my opinion for Wickes to treat customers like this. Of course, a customer has to take some responsibility too. But, it doesn’t negate the fact that if a product is flawed to begin with then it ain’t going to turn out well. Wickes recommend using chopping boards to protect the worktops. That’s probably obvious to put that into practice but even the chopping boards mark our counter tops! (See pictures below). These counters are high maintenance and the care kit provided does not effectively work. It leaves a lacklustre appearance and does not remove scratches very well. We feel we were not fully informed about its maintenance, expected life and performance. We could only go by what the sales assistant relayed to us on the day. They are meant to be the experienced ones who effectively inform the customer. We would not have chosen this counter had we been fully informed about it. We would have chosen a different product. Wickes still sell the Apollo Magna worktop! It’s not suitable for the job of a kitchen counter. Magna worktops need to be wrapped in cotton wool! WARNING! In my opinion and experience I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE APOLLO MAGNA worktops! You’ll regret it! We would like to know what the product guarantee is for our Magna worktop and what assistance Wickes can provide to remedy this situation that reflects our inconvenience, worry and concern. There seems to be huge disparity between what’s on offer and the reality of what’s installed by the ‘highly qualified professional installers’ that Wickes use. *Check the ‘no attention to detail’ attitude our installers had. In the pictures below you see a line of sealant along the upboard behind the taps randomly stops mid flow! Rather than complete a line of sealant along the whole length of the board they feel it’s acceptable to do half a line which now becomes a focal point. This is one of the finishing touches that are on constant view in our kitchen! Furthermore, the colour of sealant used stands out against the black board and doesn’t blend into the background. I expect more from these finishing touches when spending over £7,000 on a new fitted kitchen. Our fitters appeared to be inconvenienced when we presented a snag list after the kitchen was first fitted. We later asked for some repairs to the cracking worktop. After that episode we felt frustrated with the process and so put it on hold until now as it can no longer be ignored. Wickes, please help us out…
