West Wood Yurts

Just returned from a 2 night stay with my wife and 2 toddlers in Oak Pod. We had a great time, pod has got everything you need (even underfloor heating) and the wood fired hot tub is perfect. The location is perfect for a weekend escape, set on a working farm with animals all around and just above Gibside. An evening walk in Gibside when the crowds have gone home is a definite highlight. We will definitely be returning.

Stunning location, beautifully kept, great hosts and a working farm right beside you. A true escape to nature for a great value, with an added hands on approach with log-fire hot tubs and fire burners to make it even more authentic. Highly recommended and already booked another stay. NOTE! If you're due some cold weather, make sure you keep some kibble for the indoor fire. It gets BITTER cold.

We would 100% recommend the Shepard's hut to anyone looking for a romantic getaway, very cosy but I has everything you need. Self check in made it so much easier with owner popping round later in the day to collect payment

We stayed in a yurt and in one of the cabins. Two very different experiences but both excellent. Having real beds, private toilet and shower room definitely makes the cabins more luxurious, but there's something to be said about the rustic setting of the yurts. It really just depends what kind of getaway you prefer. Either way, I'd be genuinely surprised if you were disappointed. The owner was absolutely fabulous allowing us to get into the yurt early after our cabin stay. Very pleasant and accommodating to all our needs.

Loved our stay here! The set up is so well thought out, everything very convenient, comfortable, clean, well serviced and super pretty. We stayed on a yurt and loved the whole experience. From on site facilities, the yurt itself, Gibside woodlands and estate and play areas, and Beamish nearby is just awesome.

We were competition winners and could not thank the owners enough. We had one night stay, it was not long enough! Extremely clean, gorgeous location. Well equipped too. (Maybe some coat hooks would be good as our wet coats had no where to dry) The location is beautiful, quiet and relaxing with a few minutes walk into Gibside making it that little extra special. The added fire wood hot tub, and the free meat and eggs pack was also a lovely touch. (This was part of the prize) I know people say they never win but generally I don’t, we stopped all plans to take up the Prize!! We will definitely return. We loved the hot tub and the peaceful, tranquil surroundings with nature on the door step was fab! Thank you again! Ruth Sara
