Great place for reasonably priced Chinese food in Selly Oak; especially if you’ve lived in Asia/ south east Asia previously, this place definitely makes you feel comfortable and close to home. The price is fair for the portions with a nice set menu that I often order. Steven is a great lad who really looks out for his guests and gives great suggestions if you’re looking to try new dishes there. I’m a proud regular at this restaurant!

Golden City Chinese Restaurant was money well spent. They give you this huge tray of food, including seaweed soup, rice and meat, salad, even fruits, like the one in the picture. The meat portion is also much, I couldn't finish mine. Had to get a takeaway which they provide free of charge with a nylon bag for you carry leftovers home. The only thing is that they only take cash and that is somewhat common to Chinese restaurant. So take cash along or you might have to go and withdraw at the ATM which is less than 2 minutes walk away.

Lost for words, 5th time coming here and definitely will be the last. Our food was brought out in take away containers which was then put onto plates. So we received take away food/costs and paid full price for dine in menu costs which is alot more. We were given cheap salt and pepper chicken which was cold dry and tasteless. Chef came out to use toilet and made a horrid throat noise which sound like he was being sick and he ate his OWN food lol. This restaurant has gone very down hill. Zero etiquette. Will never be coming here again.

The staff were Rude ignorant when we placed a order not very goid English no body was in the restaurant it was empty got the food and was discusted after paying before the meal we complained about the food and the big man laughed at us we want refund couldn't eat the food I would not recommend anyone to use this restaurant very poor quality service

First of all, as soon as I entered the restaurant I realised a bad smell, like live stock (poultry). Then when I saw down to look at the menu (possibly for take away due to the stench), my arms got sticky on the table top. I then realised all tables are in a similar state. The man behind the counter seemed uninterested in my presence. Even when I was talking to him he gave one word answers, although his English was great, when I heard him talking on the phone later. The food came after a solid 25 minutes, even though the restaurant seemed empty, not many online orders and it was only fried noodles that I had ordered. When I finally got my food, it was placed on the table, like how I throw food to my dogs. So I decided not to eat it and left. I know it’s only a Chinese restaurant in Selly Oak. But the prices are more on the high end. So I guess my mistake for expecting anything at all.

10 10 would recommend, you get a generous portion for the price, and the food taste good. I ate with 2 other people and was able to take a decent amount of left overs home.

Very tasty food, definitely a treat. Always been hot when arrived via delivery. Restaurant quality. Would recommend A+++
