Ich wurde hier im Dezember 1973 eingeschult, da mein Vater in der Nähe stationiert war. Eine wunderschöne Zeit, an die mich auch heute noch sehr gerne erinnere. 😀

Where to start? If you do not want to read the entire review, I strongly advise avoiding this school as it can cause severe issues. We moved over from a great International School in Basel, which we couldn't be more optimistic off (see review). We had positive intake talks with ISE, and all three kids signed up after several virtual meetings. Yet, so many things happened that a detailed review would become a novel. In brief, below are some points that raise concerns and have left scars on my family. - It is not an IB school. It is a Dutch system that teaches in English, not IB! ISE should not have an IB accreditation. - They blame everything on the restrictions and that they don't have enough funds. The solution is to raise prices, but let's not forget the input from Brainport Eindhoven, which is over a mln a year! - No bullying policy whatsoever. It is a harsh environment and unhealthy. - A majority nationality (not Dutch) provides challenges for creating and allowing an international school environment. - Teachers come and go; some teachers share days, so kids have one teacher for two days and another for three days! Some changed teachers twice in a period of 5 months! It is a revolving door of teachers leaving for apparent reasons. - The leadership is poor, doesn't care and has no empathy with anything (except when you visit the school before joining) - They blame all on the pandemic, and there is no community feel you see in other International Schools. Several families took out their kids at the end of the school year and moved back. Most of them had different IB experiences in other areas or countries as some don't know better. Those with IB experience won't like or accept the school. We had been told that one of our children would not make it and was not academic enough. Best to move her out of the school into a Dutch program and become a waitress! She is not the most academic, but since leaving ISE. She has been thriving and surpassing our expectations as we moved house to enter a new school. It proves that a healthy environment is essential for a child's progress. Unfortunately, this school is the only one around and lives on its previous reputation; I empathise with anyone ending up at this campus!

Silvo, which ISE is part of, sees education as a profit machine. When Dutch government considered capping the voluntary parents fee a few years back they immediately took action by creating such a bad working environment that the best Dutch teaches left for other schools (my daughter's teacher in the middle of the school year). Head of bi-lingual department reported ill and then also left. Because of the situation half the children in my daughters class went to other schools. ISE finally announced that the Dutch (bi-lingual) department will be closed or moved off-campus, forcing all children/parents to move. My 9-year old has suffered for years because of the uncertainty, changes in teachers and stress in our family. If they had made their plans clear 3 years ago we would have switched then. It looks like they are trying to drive the number of pupils below 100 with a reign of terror so they are allowed to close the bi-lingual department. High price for very bad quality. Beware all schools run by Silvo (like Stedelijk College)!

We were very positive after intake and visiting the school before they started, but it turned out to be the absolute worst international school our boys have attended. And they have attended a few... Some of the staff were very nice such as the guidance counsellor. It just didn't meet our expectations at all, unfortunately. If our boys were younger or speak dutch we would have put them in a dutch school. Or the IB program in Maastricht. Covid was used as an excuse for everything up until the last months, even though no restrictions anymore, teachers were on leave a lot, a lot of teachers quit and they were always looking for new ones. A lot of the classes (IB)were unsupervised. Dutch was spoken too much even among the teachers in front of non dutch, leaving them left out. That affects the social life at school. The facilities were good though and the cafeteria.

If you have a high school student, stay away! Explore every possible option of enrolling your child somewhere else before you let them suffer from subpar education at ISE. Our daughter spent 9 months at ISE before we withdrew her, and her IB scores were one of the highest at this school. The only reason why their IB students don’t fail to get an IB diploma is because a lot of them are forced to repeat DP1 so they spend 3 years in the program instead of the normal 2 years. Other students are asked to leave and go to Dutch schools instead if their grades are deemed too low by the administration so they wouldn't hurt the school's questionable statistics. Don't expect any extra help - or any help at all - their teachers don't even have office hours. Unless they work for ISE only part time, I would be curious to know where they are outside of their classroom time because it's virtually impossible to find them before or after class. If you ever have any questions about school policies or anything IB, you might as well just forget it – you will never get any of your questions answered here. Teachers constantly yell at students. Students were bullied by a teacher and cried regularly in our daughter’s IB Visual Arts class, but no one in the administration cared. Grades took forever to post and there was hardly any feedback. Some teachers were always late to class, and lots of classes were simply cancelled during our daughter’s time at this school. Then they would panic that they didn’t teach what they were supposed to and take out their frustration on the students. Truly a terrible IB program! I completely agree with the previous reviewer that ISE should have never been accredited for IB. Having said that, there are some good teachers at ISE but I bet they will probably leave soon - the staff turnover and teacher shortages at this school are like nowhere else. The school called it a staffing predicament in multiple letters that we received to justify frequent class cancellation but the fact that parents were still paying tuition (close to 8K for IB) meant nothing to them. Don't waste your money, go somewhere else and let your kids enjoy their high school years!

This is a really great school! Ignore all the negativity you read about ISE. This is a huge school with tons of opportunities for children of all ages u0026 needs. You find totally dedicated, caring staff at this school. Try it, you won't regret!

This is the worst school we have ever set foot in, all the way from Primary to Secondary, the Dutch (especially, the Dutch school) to the English! They are definitely “More than a school.” They are more like a mental institution, no joke, squashing students’ strengths and talents by demoralizing them and teaching them absolutely nothing while pretending to follow the IB method of being “facilitators.” They have so many issues that it would be impossible for us to write them all here. Above all, they have the worst administration and staff, with zero empathy for others, and zero interest in helping children become their best selves. In fact, they hinder their growth by suppressing them (particularly girls), and guiding them to take lower classes, while giving them lower grades than the IB would, and enforcing senseless policies for their own benefit, that the IB doesn’t even have. Our advice to all would be to “Get out! And do it as fast as you can!” We did and so have many other families who are so much happier for it. For those of you who think they don’t have a choice, be prepared to home school, pay a lot for tutors, and sign up online learning. Although it may seem like there are very few options out there, or very expensive options, believe me you’re child’s well-being, education and future is worth exploring and seeking out those options. It’s shocking to see how ISE manages to get such high reviews, for such a low-level functioning school. And it’s even a bigger mystery how they manage to fool the IB board, Brainport, and the Dutch ministry of Education for so many years. It’s clear that this is where 99% of their energy goes into: maintaining a prestigious image to the public so that they don’t get shut down immediately! Meanwhile, we parents who know the real truth about this school stay silent for years, for fear that there will be a backlash to our own children.
