Hôtel Chez Swann

I love this hotel and stay here every time I'm in Montreal for business or pleasure. I need to visit different neighborhoods throughout the city and it's central location makes getting around very easy. There are plenty of bars, restaurants, parks and shopping that you can easily walk to. The hotel is small but the rooms are on the bigger size and are always clean and very funky. Alessandro at the front desk provides great service, like all of the employees, and is always ready to accommodate. My only criticism would be that the water pressure in the shower is a little weak. Considering all the positives, I can deal with it.

Despite the mixed reviews, we stayed at this hotel and we loved it. Friendly greeting upon arrival, we parked at the hotel next door, the access door is literally 20 feet away. The 3rd floor suite was large, no foul odor, beautiful black hardwood floors, huge comfy king size bed. And the bathroom, HUGE shower for two. There was a free breakfast included but we didn't get out of bed in time for it. All in all it was a great option and we would definitely stay here again.

Even if the staff was friendly and welcoming, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The rooms are small and poorly decorated, the breakfast is poor, and the parking is a nightmare. There are many other hotels and parkings in the area that are much better value for your money. Based on the photos online, I thought this hotel would be nicely decorated and cozy. However, the reality was quite different. My room was very small, and there was no space to get around the bed. As soon as I opened the door, I was overwhelmed by a strong smell of tobacco and humidity. The shower had a glass wall with an suggestive open view of the bedroom, which was not what I was looking for. The breakfast was also poor, with nothing fresh or better than what you could find at a Motel 6. Overall, there was nothing attractive or justifying the price of the room in this supposed noisy 4-star hotel. Another issue is the shared Bar George adjacent parking, which is highly recommended by the hotel manager for security reasons. However, the access to this parking is incredibly difficult, and you must deal with vehicles going up and down a one-lane ramp. The ramp is so narrow that you have to back up constantly to let other vehicles through, and the corners are so close and sharp that you have to negotiate your way by centimeters. This is extremely stressful and a real nightmare. I cannot understand how such an impossible underground parking lot is allowed by law. The $40 fee per night is a scam that you should absolutely avoid.

Would rather stay at a holiday inn which has better rooms and service. First day, there was no water during the night, followed by no hot water to shower. The pressure in the shower was so low that it takes 5 mins to wash the shampoo out. The bed linen had a long black skid mark on it. Asked for housekeeping twice and still did not receive it the next day. The only positive is the location.

Really artsy hotel with an authentic feel. Located close to most of what downtown Montreal has to offer. The breakfast was included and even though it wasn't the best possible breakfast (mostly carbs), it is always nice to get something to eat in the morning and to get a good cup of coffee. The most impressive thing about the hotel was the clear see through glasses from the bed into the shower (although possible to cover them). That is really something that can spark up a rendezvous! All in all a beautiful hotel with an authentic touch (creaky woodfloors, beautiful art pieces etc).

Fantastic unique hotel in a great location. Rooms were creative and oddly fun, like having a floor to ceiling window to the bedroom in the shower! Clean and well decorated in the common areas too. Nespresso machine in the room. Continental breakfast of yogurt, fruits, cereal, and excellent pastries was great.

Hotel Chez Swann is conveniently located near the subway, retail stores and universities and provides good value for a reasonably priced accommodation option. Located near Peel Station, this hotel is a great spot for public transit with the bus stop for the 737 Airport Bus which is about a 10-minute walk. For those arriving by train, the Via Rail Station is approximately a 14-minute walk from the hotel. Despite the minor inconveniences and service-related issues encountered during the stay, it was not a bad experience overall. Like most hotels, guests receive an access card for room entry, and the Wi-Fi password is conveniently provided on a paper strip inside the access card folder. The hotel follows standard hotel procedures, including requiring a credit card for deposits. The hotel provides a complimentary continental breakfast from 7 am to 10 am, offering a selection of pastries, cereal, toast, and coffee. The breakfast area is located in the lobby, opposite the front desk. However, guests should be aware that staff members sometimes ask in the morning which room number they are staying in. During the stay, the room featured a king-sized bed, blackout curtains, and a decently-sized bathroom with a walk-in shower. However, the TV placement was noted to be awkward and could have been better positioned in place of the walk-in shower's large window. Also, the rooms are not soundproof, and guests may experience noise from outside hallway activities, such as walking and cleaning. One notable concern was related to housekeeping services. Despite each room having a letter indicating that no cleaning service would be offered during the stay and nobody would enter the room, a housekeeping staff member entered the room without knocking. While waiting at the door, the staff member was insistent on cleaning and checking for garbage, despite the guest's request for no service. Note: place the no service sign on the door to avoid this scenario.

This place wasn't so great... I mean other than the location and the free continental breakfast and the kind concierge, and the art deco... it was kind of noisy and besides that it wasn't really that clean either and there was no parking... parking was not free and you had to go up through the lobby of a very swanky and expensive hotel next door. Not a delightful first Montreal trip.
