I chose Dr Tankel due to good review. I had a good experience with him on our first appt but later down the lane he started to make me feel bad for refusing some injections knowing fully well that a patient has the right of refusal. Before I will take any medication or injection you as a doctor will need to educate me properly but not come to an appointment and wait almost 2 hours and you only spend like 5mins with me rushing through our visit and asking me to take a vaccine I don't know much about but handed me a sheet to go read up myself. Everyone has a reason as to why to any decision they arrive at and I expect Dr Tankel to respect thier decision. And not indirectly make patient feel bad. Well I had an appointment was running late, called and no one answered the phone, when I got there they made me wait for an hour and later told me to go home and come back later in the day. How could they do that. I ended up having to book for an appointment the following week. His receptionist is so unprofessional and rude when dealing with people.

Just want to say this upfront: Dr. Cameron Sklar is kind but not his receptionist! His receptionist is very rude, impatient and unsympathetic at all! The service she provided was way more unprofessional according to the average standard in a specialist clinic should have. She has no idea the industry she is working!! IMPATIENT: First, when I was checking with my family physician about the referral, the physician office did send out the referral letter to Dr. Sklar's office on the same day I saw the physician. But when I called Dr. Sklar's office for over three times, that receptionist was so impolite to respond and kept saying they did not receive anything from my physician, and yet she did not have responsibility to do anything for me. She just did not want to listen to my situation at all! POOR MANAGEMENT SKILL: Second, when I went to Dr. Sklar's office on time, I had to wait for over 1.5 hours, and to see him for less than 10 mins. I would say there should be further steps the receptionist could do in order to manage the appointment schedule better. She'd better take an administrative course or some other programs to improve her work performance. It is a doubt whether she has met the basic requirement of the job description. UNPROFESSIONAL: Third, I rearranged the doctor's appointment for a business trip I had to make. But then, when I called to reschedule, the receptionist just checked on the available schedule and did not concern about how far I was in my pregnancy and the situation I was facing. And when I asked if there was anything I could do beforehand, she said no! As a professional administrator, the person should be able to understand the patients and have some knowledge about the particular aspect. Usually there would be a VO reminder two to three days before any medical appointment from Dr. Sklar's office. And for the rearrangement this time, the receptionist did not set it up for me. And luckily I had it on my schedule. POOR LISTENING SKILL: Fourth, the listening skill of that receptionist has to be improved!! I was late to the appointment due to the meeting at work overran. I had to run fast with my very big bump and tried my best to catch up the appointment. On the way to the clinic, I was unable to call or reach the receptionist and told her that I would be late. On the other hand, the receptionist did not give me a call to confirm if I would arrive, but just let me miss the chance to see Dr. Sklar. (I am considered as in a high risk pregnancy.) Regardless of her lack of compassion, she did not let me finish explaining why I was late, but just talking over to me that the doctor would not see any late patients. When I looked around, the waiting area was about 65% occupied. (See how bad the poor scheduling skill the receptionist has!) Then again, the receptionist rescheduled me without telling me any steps I could do for the coming medical appointment, and that I had to proactively ask her back. It is really the first poor performed receptionist ever in every medical clinic I ever communicate with. I am with Dr. Sklar for years, but just did not see him for almost a year and needed a new referral. There's a former Asian receptionist, who was caring and would step into patient's shoes and treat patients as real patients. However, she has left the office. That's a loss for the clinic. Not just me, I have a mom-to-be friend with Dr. Sklar also reminded me that that receptionist was not performing professionally.

Love Dr Sklar. I’m not a touchy feely kind of gal. I don’t like being fake fawned over by medical staff, or anyone. I’ve been for real sick and injured at different times in my regular life, outside pregnancy I mean. There’s a difference between a doctor being professional with timely situationally appropriate concern, and a doctor who simpers and pets your arm with that high school counsellor voice. I find the later not only annoying, but leaves me sometimes confused about my situation, like they’re being extra nice because maybe something is wrong? Why are you talking to me like that? Dr Sklar is just a regular normal guy who speaks to you like you’re a regular normal lady. Just the facts, ma’am! He’s calm and communicative and economical with your time. I ask questions a little nervously sometimes because Google told me something scary and I don’t know anything, and Dr Sklar seems to know how to assuage fears without placating. When I was a patient with my first pregnancy after moving from Ontario, he listened to me and my concerns and tailored his care without injecting any personal bias or judgement when it came to my desire to remain on my previous OB’s advised medications, and when it came to my maternal requested section. He blinked once and was like, ok 👍. With this pregnancy, it’s the same reliable even tempered Dr Sklar. Very refreshing. Also pleased that he swatted away my previously instilled belief that I was a ‘geriatric mother’ at 36. He was like, 😑 no, this is false. Thanks Dr Sklar! Haha. So if you’re scrolling through reviews trying to decide on an OB because you’re pregnant for the first time or you’re new to the area, I highly recommend Dr Sklar. Oh ya, and when I was in the hospital, all the nurses called him Cam and seemed stoked he was there. He’s obviously professionally well liked, which is another good sign I think. So if you too are also a regular normal lady, he’s your guy.

While Dr Tankel is extremely knowledgeable and personable, his staff is not up to par. Not only did they fail to inform that they moved location multiple times (not by email, neither when they asked to change my appointment time), but they were extremely rude and unresponsive when I pointed out the fact that they haven't updated their Google address. Sending an email to a list of clients who booked their appointment 3 months ago to let them know of a location change is not an unreasonable expectation. Neither is receiving an appointment confirmation call/email (in part to verify we know the proper place to go to), which I did not receive at all. You guys moved to a new location less then a month ago, how are you not adamant about letting your clients know of an address change. And when I called to let you guys know that the address online was wrong, I was ask do I want to fight. No, Stacy, I'm not here to fight. As I said, I'm giving feedback so hopefully other women like me, who have been waiting to see their doctor for over 3 month, don't miss out on their appointment because of a mistake on your end. I feel bad for Dr. Tankel, as he is an excellent doctor.

I was in the clinic recently for the first time waiting to see my doctor. I was in the waiting room alone for about 20 minutes and during this time, the 3 receptionists behind the counter were being incredibly cruel and very unprofessional towards a patient that had called in or come in earlier. They used her name and had a conversation (while laughing) that this woman should be forced to get her tubes tied and be sterilized so she would stop coming in. They went on about this for around 10 minutes, laughing and continuing the joke the entire time. I clearly do not know the woman's story, but now I know her name and I was very upset to hear them speaking this way in an obstetrics and gyno clinic meant to support women through whatever their decisions are. These comments certainly aren't jokes and they definitely were incredibly offensive and unprofessional. My doctor, who is now no longer at that clinic thankfully, is wonderful and I was very happy with my appointment with them that day. I do not know any of the other doctors, but the ladies at the front need to realize what they did was wrong.

It was my first ever OB appointment, so I have nothing to compare it to. I got to the office 15 minutes before my appointment in case they needed vitals or anything. I asked the receptionist if my husband could come in as there was a sign on the door saying guests could not enter. I told the receptionist that I was never informed and got my husband to leave work 4 hours early for OUR ob appointment. She cut me off and said, You were informed. Everyone is informed. She was very rude and unprofessional. I asked why guests could not come in. She stated it started with covid and just continued. Also stated, it's because of high-risk pregnancies. This is not holistic patient centred care. A support person should be allowed. One person should be allowed. Especially those who may have experienced trauma. The lady before me had 3 kids with her. But I can not have my husband who would be less likely to cause an infection or spread bacteria? This is not patient centred care. I/we should be allowed a support person. After my appointment, I needed to book another appointment and no receptionist in sight. I waited a good 5 minutes before someone helped me. And I believe it was the nurse in the back doing vital signs. On the other hand. Dr. Sklar was amazing. They were running behind and he apologised for same. He answered all my questions. He was calm and personable. Not what you see in most doctors. I'm glad he's my OB. 😊 Was going to rate this clinic as a 3 star, but after meeting Dr. Sklar, I'm going to give this clinic a 4 star.

I was referred to Dr Tankel by my family Dr for an IUD replacement. He walked me through the entire procedure step by step so I knew what to expect. Procedure was physically uncomfortable for all of 30 seconds, I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't painful at all, especially after my first experience at a different obgyn. 10/10 would recommend this doctor for this.
