Doug is honest, fair and will certainly not talk you into getting work done on your vehicle that doesn't need to be done. He's been with Dunsmuir Super Service 40+ years. He can be trusted.

I am very disappointed with the service and customer relations here. Our original keyed wheel nuts were removed and destroyed without permission even though the key was inside the car exactly where we told them it would be - inside the console. We had to pay for not only new mismatched and unkeyed nuts but also the labour to ruin our original nuts. We told Doug Buchanan about the situation and he was extremely aggressive and arrogant, refusing to admit his mistake. He will not even remove the charge for the new mismatched wheel nuts. He even said that we gave permission to break off our original nuts when we did no such thing. We were actually CHARGED for this degradation of our mint 1993 Ford Mustang. Doug Buchanan acted with utter disrespect and disregard for our legitimate concerns. Our family has been loyal customers of this company for decades and we have never been treated so appallingly by a business that is based on customer service. Overall terrible experience with this company. If you value your car and don't wish to be yelled at by someone you've just paid an exorbitant amount of money to then do not bring your business to this company.

We planned a trip to Vancouver Island for the weekend beforehand, and took precautions to ensure that my vehicle would not risk any issues there. Inevitably, my vehicle would not start despite a brand new battery, fully functioning alternator, and starter checkup prior to our trip. I took the vehicle to Dunsmuir Super Service, and explained to Doug the issues and what my assumptions were. Doug handled my situation absolutely professionally and promptly with great respect. I also appreciated that he did not overcharge me for his services, despite how vital and urgent I needed my vehicle back to catch the next ferry. If I ever needed work done on Vancouver Island again, I’ll be sure to drop by Doug and his team.

The service at Dunsuir is the BEST I have ever had! Super friendly and well priced. The staff all seem incredibly upbeat and enjoying their jobs! This is my forever car service shop and I tell everyone I know about it.

I've been taking my vehicles here for 20 years now, through two successive owners, and I can't sing their praises highly enough. Straight answers to all my questions, clear explanation of work recommended and why, no push to do work that isn't yet required. Detailed, clear invoicing of work done and parts required. Thorough inspections and diagnostics on used vehicles that I was considering purchasing, and frank advice on when it was time to sell my clunker because parts were getting very hard to find. The only fault (if I can call it that) is that they are very leery of installing used (auto wrecker) parts, even on my old vehicles.

Doug is a friendly personable honest man. His staff are great as well. You helped with exactly what we needed and in such quick time. Thank you so very much and we will recommend you to anyone we know. Continuing forward you ARE now our chosen mechanic shop and we will be doing all of our business with you in the future!! I never fret about taking my car in for an oil change and check up. I trust Doug completely. I feel any work he recommends is necessary. A very professional operation. Friendly and accomodating.

Called up dunsmuir, to get a quote for a serving. Mentioned my dealership quoted me $1500, to do inspection and a couple things based on a number. Dunsmuir did it all for a fraction of that cost. inspection oil change and said those things that the other place said had to be done. Didnt need to be and explained why. Highly recommend them for their quality of work, and pure honesty. Something that is a rare find.
