MEC Victoria

I went into the Victoria location today to return a pair of shoes and the experience was extremely disappointing. The cashier I dealt with was having an issue attempting to do the return. Instead of refunding the purchase price I was charged again for the item. The cashier appeared to become flustered and another cashier came over to assist and confirmed I was charged again. The original cashiers face turned red and she walked away. The second cashier apologized for the mistake and proceeded to correct the transaction. The manager then appeared and began to berate me in front of huge line of customers and asked me if I had called the original cashier incompetent. I responded that I absolutely did not call her incompetent nor did I mutter that or the like under my breath. I don't appreciate being accused of saying something that I did not say. I refute any such allegation. My family and I have shopped at MEC for many years. Treatment of this nature to customers is unprofessional.

I’ve been using MEC’s bike shop for a couple of years and realised I’ve never left a review despite always having a positive experience there. The staff are always really helpful and service is always 10/10. Whether I’ve got there late in the day or asked them 1000 questions, they’re always helpful, professional and treat me with respect. I won’t go elsewhere in Victoria.

Great choice of brands and goods. But a bag for my purchased clothes would have been nice. Things were completely wet after walking home through the rain. So don’t forget to bring a bag of you shop more or the weather is rainy.

I had a great experience at the bike shop on Friday, October 20th. I was helped by Uan (sorry if spelled your name wrong). He provided great customer service, was very helpful, attentive and was able to identify the issue I was having with my bike. I will definitely be coming back to the MEC bike shop for all my future bike needs because of the high level of customer service that I received. Thank you!

Patrick and the team were amazing and saved our WCT trip by making fuel available to us outside of normal operating hours. They even included a nice note to us! Incredible service from a team clearly dedicated to the outdoor community.

The staff are folks who are just trying to pay their bills or get through school and work at the busiest foot traffic MEC store in the country when there’s a frontline service staff shortage and most of the customers here complaining about MEC treat the staff terribly. There are horrible things (sexist, rude, or downright inappropriate) said to multiple staff every day. The entitled behaviour of consumers is appalling. Here’s some advice to people who feel “outraged” by MEC for one thing or another: Things change. It’s literally just a retail store not your human rights. Get over it.

Unfortunately the associate in the shoe section can't seem to multitask. Wanted to buy some hikers and waited around for about 10 mins while the associate chatted away with another customer. I feel it would have been quite easy for him to grab me a pair to try on while they walked around in the ones they were trying. Eventually I just gave up. Seems I'm not the only one to have this experience here. Probably won't be back.
