10-18-2023 13:54This place is awesome. Best Hakka restaurant in Markham! The owner is very nice and friendly, and the staff are always great. We usually get pick up or delivery, but occasionally we do dine in. There are also of vegan options, and they allow customization to make it vegan.

09-06-2023 10:18Be warned: ANY dine-in party (even a party of 1) pays 15% mandatory gratuity. We were shocked by this when we went to pay the bill. This soured the whole experience. It’s written in fine print on the last pg of the menu. We’re (2 people dined) gonna be more careful from now on in any dine-in option since the norm is large parties pay 15% gratuity. Rating is affected by this ———- Food review We had the steamed chicken dumplings, hot and sour soup, manchow soup, house special fried rice and beef in spicy garlic sauce The soups tasted pretty similar- we ended up mixing them. The beef was not spicy. Not sure what kind of garlic was used but we didn’t see any. When we asked them, they said it was there. The dumplings and hot and sour soup were the best imo out of everything we ordered.

While still at the restaurant, I feel compelled to share my experience at Hakka Legend in Markham in order to provide potential diners with insight. Unfortunately, my visit fell short of expectations, leaving me deeply disappointed. The quality of the food did not meet my anticipated standards, and the service I received was unpleasant. A notable issue arose when I ordered the Manchurian balls, only to discover that they were uncooked and inedible. When I brought this to the attention of the server, their defensive and rude response caught me off guard. They even touched the fork I was using to break open a manchurian ball, which raised health concerns. Instead of acknowledging the problem and working towards a solution, they insisted that the balls were cooked and dismissed my complaint. To exacerbate the situation, the server, who turned out to be the owner, arrogantly stated that even if the balls were replaced, the outcome would be the same, and I would be charged for both orders. This blatant disregard for customer satisfaction and the lack of professionalism in handling the situation left me greatly disappointed. Any reputable establishment should uphold high standards in food preparation and address customer concerns with care and respect. Regrettably, Hakka Legend failed to meet these basic expectations. In addition to the poor food quality and unprofessional service, the overall ambiance of the restaurant was lacking. This unfortunate experience has diminished my desire to revisit Hakka Legend in the future. I cannot recommend Hakka Legend in Markham to those seeking a pleasant dining experience. Given the similarity of this review to others, I doubt that the management of Hakka Legend will take this feedback seriously and make the necessary improvements in their food quality and customer service.

04-03-2023 21:58We have been ordering take-out food from Hakka Legend in Markham since it opened years ago. We have generally been happy. However the price went up quite a bit during and after the pandemic, which we understood was due to inflation, etc. But recently we ordered take-out based on the usual container size but when we opened the bags found that they are now using much smaller containers than before for the same price, an underhanded way of increasing the price even more. As a result, the food was barely enough for our guests, whereas in the past we would have lots of leftovers (with the same orders and same number of guests). Not happy, may not order from them again.
