Great Asian Market Saskatoon East Store

You know the feeling when you walk into the middle of a store, take a deep breath, gag on the foul smell of dried herbal medication, mounds of fungus, and weird soup ingredients that look like bars of chalk and dried-up octopus tentacles that seem like they came out of an anime horror flick? That's the smell of home for me, and this place has a lot of stuff going for it. A very decent, if not large, frozen section carries a lot of frozen fish and packaged goods from the far east countries, and they sell their own in-house variety of frozen dim sum too if you want to try that in bulk. A decent little meat and veggie section is nice to see. If you need to ask the staff, you may need patience as their English is fairly limited. But overall, the layout is easy to get around and I am happy with the selection they provide.

This is a great grocery store where you can find quality food to suit many chefs.

I love buying there because I'm able to find ingredients that are not in regular grocery stores. I just wish they are diligent in checking best before dates of the products they sell. This one on the picture was taken 2 weeks ago. Today I checked the same product on their shelves and still found it with December 2018 best before date.

Some of the items are not in this store, like dried fished, and some ingredients for Vietnam, Thailand’s dishes. But on the other hand, the ingredients for Korea, Japan and China are very riches. Especially the China stuffs. Anyway I can find some products that cheaper than the other stores, like tokpokki, chili paste, etc.

Everything you need is there! They have a huge fish selection and variety of meat products
