George's Independent City Market Toronto

On Tuesday, September 26th at about 11am, I made a quick stop to this CityMart, which I have done many times before as this is the closest grocery store to my house. Before this incident, I had never had such an awful customer service experience, but unfortunately this negative interaction has really turned me away from shopping here again. I approached a young man(I didnt see his name tag. his only defining features were brown hair and blue eyes). He was talking with another employee, and I politelty asked where a product was. Even though I asked a reasonable question who is on the clock, he nastily looked me up and down slowly, scoffed, and all he responded with was a harsh No?. I felt like I had rudely interrupted his conversation and like I wasn't welcome in the store. I was just needing help finding something, which I figured a worker would be able to assist me with, but he reacted like I had asked something completely insane. I just needed clove oil! I left the store feeling like an inconvenience, and to jsut be very honest, his response and way he treated/looked at me simply hurt my feelings. It was unnecessarily rude and dismissive, and left a nasty taste in my mouth. This was a very disappointing experience, and I can't imagine the CityMart wants their employees driving customers away from the store with a nasty, hurtful attitude.

Good spicy chicken, the island soda was a little too much ginger for me, but definitely a good place for an early lunch

To be honest, it was my first time. I just went through it fast to see if good prices etc and I felt it is a copy paste from loblaws. Same items and prices. So just left. But they looked clean and tidy and inviting to buy.

they’re great for marked down food, but otherwise it’s very pricey here. plus the staff can be bit rude in the mornings. baked goods have gone downhill a bit, but are still good. excellent location makes it easy for quick visits. they got good pizza buns and the chicken strips are great.. if you’re looking for quick eats.

Had a wonderful visit today, and I was quite surprised, I thought things would be much more expensive than they were and the selections were amazing !!! Glad I stopped in after meeting because it was an eye opener, prices are obviously a little higher than the bargain brand grocery stores, but the selection is great and worth the options available, again if you know what you are looking for and the prices for them, you'll be ok ... it was fairly empty so easy to shop and very friendly staff and great pre-made foods available!!

I like this store more than the Metro up the street because it’s bigger and has more selection. HOWEVER management seems to be under the delusion that every costumer is a thief? I shop here about once a week with my daughter in her stroller. I have had an employee hover around and then “clean” a spot on the floor near me which seemed like she was trying to look in my stroller (FYI: if something says DOLLARAMA on it, it just might be from the dollarama you share a building with 🙄). The person they have stationed at the self checkout stood SO CLOSE TO ME today I had to ask her if she needed something. It’s one thing to monitor the self check out but I could almost have reached out and touched her that’s how close she was. It’s bizarre, it’s incredibly rude, and I am so sick of grocery stores that CHOSE to implement self check out think that it’s okay to behave as though all of their customers are thieves. You are creating anxiety and ruining the shopping experience. Idk about anyone else but it makes me really uncomfortable to be constantly watched for no reason.

Has gone steadily downhill since opening. Unfriendly, rude staff, never fully stocked and always missing standard things. The shopping experience is nothing short of terrible. The employees must hate their jobs because they clearly do not like their regular customers. There are other choices that make this place completely redundant. A very poor showing.

This store is beautiful!! I also found my favorite snack here, Bean Bark! This store has a huge natural value section with so many healthy food alternatives! It is also wonderful to see a store supporting local products from Ontario. If you've never shopped at this store before, I highly recommend it.😍
