I was looking for a company to replacing my knob and tube wiring and replace my old service panel. Sykes Electric was selected as they had a lot of great reviews.The team arrived as scheduled and completed the work quickly, with as little interference as possible. They cleaned up when they were done each day. Everything was done as promised and in the 3 1/2 day estimate. All the men were very polite, courteous and their workmanship was above standard. Thanks to Glen and Lisa and to the Crew for a job well done.

We choose Sykes Electric after the estimate and evaluation from Lisa. She is efficient, knowledgeable, professional and prompt.She told us that the panel, mast, all the plugs u0026 outlets and whatever else we agreed on to upgrade would be done in 5 days with a minimum of disruption. And she was right! The team - Kennedy,Trapper, Dion and Daniel arrived promptly Monday morning (and every morning) at 8am and got right to it. They took off their winter shoes and had indoor shoes (which we appreciated). Kennedy went over the plan with us and they began the project. They worked each day till they accomplished what they wanted which took them till about 4-6pm. They worked together harmoniously and it was like watching a symphony! They were able to keep the electricity for the fridge, stove, furnace, water heater, tv going except for the transfer of service. They provided extension cords and lanterns for the lighting of the house at the end of the day till next morning. On Day 4 Hydro was able to switch masts! That was a longer day for them. It was a long weekend, so they came back on Monday to finish the job. They patched and finished the holes they made - ready for painting. They cleaned up dust and any garbage that accumulated every day. It was disruptive for us during this time, as we often left to do other things or whatever but with the time frame of 5 days, it really made it possible despite inconveniences. This group of electricians has made us believe that there are ethical, courteous and professional tradespeople still around. We are so happy we chose Sykes to do this job! There was no hassling with the price, it was all very upfront and quoted on paper or email. It was an expensive job $20,000 - but it was well worth it! (The other quotes we received were in the same price range) We would highly recommend this company for your electrical needs. I am so glad I chose Sykes to remove my knob and tube. What could have been a very stressful experience turned into a great experience because of the professionalism of the 2 electricians and 3 apprentices who worked on my house for 4 days. They showed up exactly on time each day, communicated with me and with each other in a very respectful and professional manner, did a wonderful job, left all the patches sanded and paint ready, and cleaned up very well after themselves. I would highly recommend this company!

We were looking for electrical companies to get quotes from as we had bought our first home late last summer and was made aware that a few outlets were not grounded and we also wanted to add another outlet to one of the rooms that only had one ungrounded outlet for the whole room. Sykes was one of the four quotes we had gotten done and their quote fell within the middle of the other quotes and in our set budget, including repairing any holes made which not all of our quotes offered this, so it was nice to have this included in the quote as we are not handy people for fixing holes in walls. Sykes was very easy to communicate with and Lisa was fantastic at explaining the quote and what it would take to get our request of grounding the outlets and adding another outlet done. We received a reminder email for the installation date, which was much appreciated as I had forgotten the date we had set up as our job was small and we didn't need it to happen asap. The two guys that came and did the work for us were respectful of our home by having separate shoes for wearing inside, covering our stuff to limit the dust getting on it and they cleaned up their work and any messes after on both days of work with a final big clean on the second day. They beautifully repaired all holes they made and when we get around to painting the walls you won't be able to tell a hole was there. They were both very easy to talk with and answer any questions I had and communicated with me when something needed to be done differently than what I was told at the time of the quote; they even alerted me to what they had seen while working in my attic in regards to moisture and a leak which as a first time homeowner was greatly appreciated to be told this :), they were also even able to accommodate my request to add a surge protector to our panel and to make our basement electric baseboard heaters on separate thermostats instead of the one controlling both rooms. From start to finish we are very pleased with picking this company and will happily use Sykes Electric again if the need came up and we gladly recommend them to anyone looking for electrical work being done.

We found knob and tube hidden in our home. We gave Sykes a call, they came in and gave us an estimate for the removal of our knob and tube as well as the other jobs we wanted to do. The team was very professional and friendly. Would highly recommend. Very satisfied with the completed job and plan to call them back for a future project!

I recently hired Sykes Electric to rewire my house in order to remove the existing aluminum wiring and upgrading my panel from a (very dated) 100A service to a 200A service. Along with these, we had the house brought up to code, had pot lights installed in the living area and had surge protection installed at the new panel. Their quote was very competitive and more than fair, and while every competitor cited 3-4 weeks to complete the job, Sykes used a crew of 4 and was able to complete the job in 4.5 working days. The crew was polite, friendly, very professional and they were happy to answer any questions or concerns I had as they worked. They identified a couple minor, unexpected issues which were easily resolved without impacting how long it took to complete the project. They were also careful throughout the project not to damage floors etc. in the home and went above and beyond my expectations in maintaining a clean worksite. Their scheduling team was always responsive and great in providing the details needed to make an informed choice and very flexible in scheduling an inspection date that worked for me. The owner, Glen, also stopped by a couple times and took personal interest - making a point to introduce himself and ensure the project was going well. He also personally followed up on a minor issue at the end of the project and helped resolve it. Finally, a point that was important to me personally - the new panel was installed so that it is very clean and satisfying to look at and the circuits were clearly labelled. (I am confident anyone else could walk into the home and know which breaker to flip if needed, without requiring trial and error guesses.) The lead journeyman, Kennedy, also took time to explain to me how the duplex breakers and AFCI breaks (both new to me) worked. Sykes Electric exceeded all my expectations and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for an electrician in Winnipeg!

Glen and Lisa were an absolute pleasure to do business with and I can't say enough good things about their crew - Kennedy, Trapper, Dan and Dion. They are professional, respectful, personable, hardworking, knowledgeable, punctual and overall just great people! Their rates are reasonable and they did a fantastic job wih clean-up. I feel very lucky to have found them to do the knob and tube replacement in our home.
