Saw a bunch of IG foodie post about this place so tried it myself.....would not have been more disappointed The places were food court paper plates, flavor was okay (nothing special), the meat filing was grinded too fine so had no texture. The fried bun was too crisp and slightly tasted the burned on the bottom. Not a whole lot of tables inside, kept on feeling the cold gust of wind blowing it. If you looking for xlb or some nice buns, I'd say stick to the regular and crystal malls got you ;)

This is one of the few authentic Shanghai restaurants in Greater Vancouver. Both the owner and the chef are from Shanghai. As soon as you step in, you're greeted by the soft Shanghai dialect, and not long after, an old man comes in. Hearing the boss's soft, sticky call of Mr. Zhao in Shanghai dialect, I suddenly feel like I'm back in Shanghai in the 1940s. We ordered the Lujiazui set with mini wontons (小馄饨) and pan-fried buns (生煎包), plus an additional oil tofu vermicelli soup (油豆腐粉丝汤) and preserved beancut (烤麸). The preserved beancut has an authentic taste, slightly sweet but not greasy, with a good texture. It would be top-notch even in Shanghai. The oily tofu is not soft, very chewy, and when bitten into, it exudes a unique fresh flavor of bean products, which is also delicious. The soup as a whole is a little bit light, if it's in Shanghai, it should be a lot of spicy or 5-Spice powder, I wonder. Anyway, it's already very delicious and authentic. Oh yes, the soup itself feels a bit like Shuang Dang (双档) soup. The pan-fried buns are a typical Shanghai style, with the opening at the bottom (the Xiao Yang's pan-fried buns are the North JiangSu style, with the opening at the top). The preparation is authentic, and the meat is well processed (those who have stayed in North America know how difficult it is to handle pork here). Unfortunately, the bottom is not crisp enough, a bit sticky, which is a pity. The pan-fried buns and panfried dumplings (锅贴) here are made to order, very fresh, and especially delicate. The restaurant is very clean and stylish, and we should come often in the future. There are two parking spaces behind the restaurant, and if there are no spaces left, you can park across the street at Metro Town and walk over, which is generally convenient. They also sell dumplings and buns in frozen, but considering the taste, I didn't buy them - such a good restaurant worth a dine in.

We came here based on the great reviews. My bestie whom I call Dumpling Queen LOVED the xiaolongbao!!! She already had her favourite xiaolongbao before she came here but that all changed. I don’t eat xiaolongbao a lot but I admit it was THE best I’ve ever had. We ordered the following u0026 the ratings are based as 5 being the best: Steamed Soup Buns - +5 – flavourful meat u0026 tender to the bite with tasty broth Shrimp Steamed Buns – 4/5 – so tasty that I forgot to take a picture Pan Fried Dumplings – 4/5 – ordered the wrong item but still tasty Rice Sui-mai - +5 – both our favourites – could of eaten a basket each – a must order item. You won’t be disappointed. We had to wait for the food but it was worth it. There’s even signage advising that ‘if you are in a rush, we kindly suggest that you visit us another time’. Note: this place is more of a snack place as there isn’t a huge selection of items on the menu. They’re located across the street from Metrotown Mall. It’s a small place that got busy. Service was prompt u0026 friendly. The server gave us an idea of the different items to order as the photos don’t justify what their dumplings taste like. Ambiance was okay. There’s metered parking out front until 8 pm. Best to park at Metrotown for free and walk. We’ll be back to try the other dishes. Definitely a rare diamond in the rough! Authentic food that’s reasonably priced u0026 tasty!!!

This small Shanghainese dim sum restaurant was right on the opposite side of Metrotown on Kingsway in Burnaby. They take reservation. I called to reserve a table for two. When we got there at 6pm, the restaurant was less busy but it tarted to get more and more later. The servers and owner there were super friendly and introduced us what was good. Menus are in both English and Chinese but we had to mark our selection on an individual menu sheet in Chinese. We ordered XLB, pan fried dumplings and buns with pork and small wontons in soup. All of them were very good especially and XLB and pan fried buns with pork. They were super juicy and the bottom part of pan fried buns with pork was super crispy!! The best was that the chef fried the buns perfectly! The buns were not burnt and didn’t become black! The restaurant also sells raw dumplings, XLB and others that customers can cook at home by themselves. There is paid street parking on Kingsway. I actually parked at Metrotown and shopped a bit and then walked to the restaurant, so I did not have to worry about finding and paying for street parking.

Been here couple times, definitely the most delicious pan fried bun I’ve tried and the quality is really consistent, juicy flavourful every time. I love they have different flavours/stuffing options for the buns and can’t wait try the rest. Nice affordable spot for bun/bao lovers.

Absolute gem of a Shanghainese restaurant! As a Shanghainese myself, their simsum tastes pretty authentic and close to home (still tastes healthier than the street food lol). The owner and all the staff there speaks Shanghainese, so we had a great conservation too. All of their food are at quite reasonable prices, though their menu isn't the biggest. It's right next to Metrotown too, so parking is very easy to come by. I highly recommend their Sao Mai :)

Lovely Shanghai dim sum place! I’ve been here 5 times and the food has been consistently delicious every single time. Menu is very straightforward, which makes ordering so simple. I usually choose one of each category (steamed soup bun, pan fried bun, pan fried dumplings, wonton soup). All the dishes are freshly made in store, you can see the employees making all the stuff via see through window. Store can be a little busy at peak hours, but the servers are all super friendly. Totally recommend!

Been wanting to try Colour See See Shanghainese Cuisine for their XLB’s. Menu is short and sweet with 25 items. You can also purchase frozen dumplings/XLB's. - Bean curd vermicelli soup ($6.25) - small portion and bland. - Rice sui-mai ($6.75 for 4) - never seen a sui mai stuffed with rice before. Nice. - Spring rolls ($7.95 for 4) - these weren't good. Hard pass. - Pork XLB ($7.95 for 6) - solid. Nice thin wrapper, soup was tasty, and good amount of filling. Best dish of the night. - Crab u0026 pork XLB ($10.95 for 6) - couldn't taste much crab filling but still enjoyable. - Shrimp u0026 pork panfried buns ($8.55 for 4) - crispy bottom, juicy filling. Another winner. Cash only for bills $30.00 or less, otherwise they accept cards. Stick with the XLB's and SJB’s at CSS. 3.5 stars.
