09-04-2023 01:45I love Japanese food but was disappointed with the food here. Majority of items are on the pricier side, which is okay if the food is worth it, but I unfortunately did not like the food at all. I had the beef and onion katsu don. The bowl appears like a good size for $15.50 pre tax, but you find out later on that it's mostly rice and onion and barely any beef. The katsu don also tasted very bland. Katsu don is supposed to have a sweetness to it. Was very disappointed with my meal. My friend had one of the rolls but it looked like it was mostly rice. She also had the takoyaki which was maybe the only thing that we liked. Server was very nice though. I would have liked it if the food came out together instead of my friend getting all of her food before me because I had to sit and wait. It was awkward watching her eat!

08-31-2023 12:38Discovered this sushi while having dimsum next door and they were doing a spend $100 and get $50 gift certificate. The $50 gift certificate can only be used for the regular menu and nothing on the happy hour or dinner combos. The sushi was mid compared to similar cost around the neighborhood. Would recommend if you enjoy smaller portions for the dinner combos or come for happy hour.

08-13-2023 09:51Note: the $150 for $100 does not apply to the special meals I had an overall enjoyable dining experience. We opted for the lobster special meal, which included sashimi and nigiri but the brentwood roll I wasn't particularly fond of. The combo starts at $138, with options to upgrade like the waygu fried rice for an additional $20, or adding udon to the fresh lobster soup for $5. Now, to touch on the critiques. Some might debate whether pineapples belong on pizzas, much like cream cheese in sushi. I wished there was an option to upgrade to a different roll, even if it meant charging get rid of an item (because I detest the roll). Nevertheless, the rest of the meal was superb. The sashimi was exceptionally fresh, and even the lobster remains were still moving. I do question the design of the combo for four; with 2 pieces of 4 sashimi types and 3 pieces of 2 nigiri types, if it were four friends dining, someone might feel a bit left out. It's a pity because this combo was truly a gem. The grilled hamachi cheeks (order on the side) vary in cost day-to-day, ranging from $18 for smaller portions to $25 for larger ones. Though we were initially quoted $18, the bill reflected $25. Thankfully, the excellent service team quickly rectified this. And lastly, the waygu fried rice was a standout - absolutely delectable. The tempura, ika Karaage, and takoyaki unfortunately detracted from the experience rather than enhancing it. To elevate the dining experience, consider incorporating more sashimi, improving the roll, and omitting the mentioned items altogether. Make the waygu beef fried rice standard and slap on the $20 into the price!

06-16-2023 14:02I recently dined at Ajishou Brentwood Japanese Restaurant, and I must say that the sushi and food were truly excellent. The variety of dishes we ordered was impressive, and there were some standout items that left a lasting impression. The highlights included the Beef Udon, Edamame, Mentaiko Yaki Udon, Spicy Combo, Beef Tataki, Aburi Sushi Set, and the Uni Sashimi, which was undoubtedly the dish of the night – fresh and delightful! The restaurant's ambiance was pleasant, and we enjoyed the traditional Japanese decor. However, despite the fantastic food, the overall experience was let down by the service. The staff seemed overwhelmed and understaffed, resulting in a significant wait time for our orders to be taken and served. Additionally, it was quite challenging to get their attention for simple requests like water refills or extra napkins. The lackluster service did dampen our dining experience and left us feeling a bit disappointed. The menu offered an extensive selection of sushi rolls, and we particularly enjoyed the Spicy Tuna roll, Spicy Salmon roll, Avocado roll, and Futomaki. Each roll was packed with flavour and beautifully presented. The Black Cod Miso Yaki and Nabeyaki Soba were also noteworthy, providing a well-balanced mix of textures and tastes. In summary, Ajishou Brentwood Japanese Restaurant is a great spot for those seeking delicious and authentic Japanese cuisine. The standout dishes, especially the uni sashimi, made the visit worthwhile. Its enchanting umami-rich profile and velvety texture make it an explosion of flavours in your mouth, a sensory adventure that lingers long after you take your last bite. However, the slow and inattentive service took away from what could have been an exceptional dining experience. I would recommend the restaurant for its delectable food but would advise them to work on improving their service efficiency to match the quality of their dishes.

05-19-2023 21:27This place was good, but it wasn’t amazing. It met the minimum requirements for a Japanese restaurant. I’ve eaten at many many Japanese restaurants and I just felt like something was always missing from each dish.. everything was 8/10! It was good you won’t be disappointed.

04-22-2023 23:03This is a newer sushi joint that opened at The Amazing Brentwood. It can be a bit tricky to describe how to find it to people who haven’t been there before. Nice interior, ample space and seating. Friendly service, never needed to ask for a water refill, and tea was great. Now, for the main attraction: the sushi was really good. Most standard rolls are available but there are some playful variations that change things up a bit. Ingredients taste fresh, and rolls are constructed with attention to detail. I took two sets of out of town guests here and they were both impressed. Was disappointed that their robot server didn’t really seem to do anything. I swear I saw a video on social media of it actually working before…

03-28-2023 00:155 star all the way! What an amazing dining experience! And a great Happy Hour selection! It was my first time to this place, and it will definitely not be the last. Because of the amazing 50% off appy menu, we were able to order a small variety of things. I think my favorite was the salmon and tuna hako-simply delicious 😋 Every dish was bursting with flavor, yum, yum, yum. The place was busy, but we got our food quick. Service was undeniably exceptional! I highly recommend this place, you will not be disappointed!
