The Durham Castle Arms

A great old English pub that has been around for a long time. I recently revisited after quite some time had a meal and enjoyed some great entertainment.Everyone I was with enjoyed their meals as did I. There were a couple of minor issues with the service which didn't ruin the night but were regrettable nonetheless. Firstly, the specials board was not updated to reflect the unavailability of some items and there was some confusion as to what was available. We were promised a partial refund as a result because we had paid for our order but then were later told that was not possible. Secondly there was a deal to get free beers with a schnitzel or parmy. Our table ordered 4 of these but were not offered the complimentary drinks when we ordered and when we asked about it received 2 of the 4 beers we should have got. You will notice the good ratings given to the food and atmosphere so I wouldn't discourage a visit to this Canberra stalwart, it's just the service received on our visit that could have been better.

Great pub, owned and ran both great operators. Great beer selection and quality. Steak is always cooked as per order. Blackboard specials often change. Bar staff are amazing. Tuesday trivia is a must. Live music. Comedy nights. An all round great pub. Ask Adrian or Mark for beer or whisky recommendations.

Wonderful English Pub in the heart of Canberra. I tried the rack of ribs. They were moist and falling off the bone. They have a collection of craft beers on tap, I went with the stout, and it had a very rich and velvety flavour safe to say I will be eating here again on my next trip to Canberra.

A nice pub. We got a great table. The beer and the Porterhouse Steak was tasty. The burger meal where slim. Trivia night ok but we did not participate. All the best to the workers. It appears to be busy joint.

Looking for a place to eat locally after our hotel was overpriced, under sized and average tasting. Discovered Durham via reviews and were not disappointed! So much so, we came back again! Steak, perfect. Got vegetables without a surcharge (like so many other places). Parmigiana was succulent and tasty. Each layer was distinctive yet complementary. Portions are enough that you feel well fed. But don't go past the desserts! Sticky date pud with a whisky to help it down was just what the Dr ordered. If you're staying locally, I urge you to add the Durham to your list. Food + atmosphere + excellent, friendly service (thanks Adrian!) - you will not be disappointed!

Situated in prime location in Green Square, a welcoming pleasant place, good atmosphere and decor reminiscent of an English pub. Great vibe with an excellent array of local craft beers (including one of my favourites Ale Mary) on tap. A variety of comfort pub meals to tame the hunger with some cheeky deserts also available. A variety of drinks options are also available. Service was friendly and efficient and there were no long waits for anything, even on a busy trivia night. Thanks team for making our visits a great experience!

We keep coming back to this great establishment. Very friendly u0026 welcoming staff at the Durham Castle Arms @ Kingston We went there for Lunch u0026 on the strength of that we then did dinner there on 2 seperate occasions. Seating is great as you have the choice of indoor or outdoor dining. Their menu is great as it also caters for Vegetarians u0026 Pescatarians! We had a great time there. It seems to have the patronage of a good cross section of people ranging from young professionals to the young at heart. Very safe place to go to. Thank you for great food, beer, wine u0026 great ambience. The inside is like some of the real pubs you would encounter in the UK. Highly recommend the Durham to all. We look forward to going back there.
