Midnight Hotel, Autograph Collection

We drove 4 hours to come to this hotel, which is our second visit. The staff are still very friendly and accommodating, but there were a few disappointing things during this visit. First, the swimming pool water was warm, but the sauna was out of order and we couldn't use it. Second, the indoor temperature of the swimming pool was too low, and it was too cold, air conditioning was set too low temperature. Lastly, the most disappointing thing was the breakfast. It was the most disappointing breakfast we've ever had at a hotel. You need more consideration like other hotels that prepare a variety of menu items. Honestly, the money spent on breakfast was a waste. We recommend using nearby cafes instead.

Room is extremely basic, lacks character. Quite literally just a bed and a small couch. Actual room is on the smaller side. Bathroom is huge but lacks functionality. No hooks, towel racks are too close to each other. One day our room was not serviced by 6pm and we had to call for towels. The receptionists were great. 24 hour pool and sauna is a plus, however, I would not even bother with the gym.

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel - lovely staff and comfortable rooms! Also mini bar was included with the price which is something I’ve never experienced before and was a special touch that would make me want to return. Great restaurant aswell.

The basics: Rooms are tiny, there is very little natural light, you look out over an internal courtyard and other people from opposite can easily see into your rooms, the rooms have no desk to work, and no table other than a coffee table. Really not many redeeming features about this hotel. I had a four night stay and had to work while in town, reception staff seemed offended by my query as to why any lack of desk or table to work on ('why didn't you call to check before you booked' to which i replied 'its apparently a five star hotel and i am paying $288 per night, I assumed I would have a desk'). Small positives would be location and ease of parking, but beyond that won't return, would not reccomend, and while new, not sure how this hotel gets five stars, probably better reflected at about 3 star rating

This was for a stay in December 2019 when the hotel was relatively new. At the time my spouse had Ambassador Status with Marriott, so we stay at a lot of hotel, and re fortunate to benefit from premium enhancements both as a business and personal traveler. This was a personal trip with my spouse and originally had planned to stay at a Crowne Plaza using IHG points b/c there was no Marriott option mid year 2019, and that was IHG's only one (or one of very few). On a whim soon before our December 2019 trip, I searched Marriott and then saw this new Autograph Collection hotel which had very few reviews on TripAdvisor or Marriott directly. Even my Ambassador contact at Marriott couldn't give me too much extra info. However it was a good points deal (maybe b/c it was new) and so thought would take a chance. In general I rate the hotels in Asia on mass best for overall room, amenities, food, lounges, and certainly they are unmatched for premium customer service. South American can be good but generally the hotels in North America, Australia, and certainly Europe are poor in comparison. The Midnight Hotel and without exception across the teams from front desk, concierge, restaurant, room service, car service, and people we passed in halls, were as good as the best hotels in Asia. They were super attentive, always trying to anticipate your needs, and always finding ways to solve an issue (of which there were none but even with non issues they went above and beyond) across our 3 days. A couple of the most unique perks (and maybe we got this b/c we are Ambassador although they didn't say that expressly) was free underground parking (saves $30 AUD per night for self parking), free jaguar car service to drop-off and pick up from around the area (the hotel is well located), and maybe the most unique of all - a completely free mini bar with refills which included local (and very good) red/white wines, beer, Sampellegrino carbonated drink, Voss water, etc. They also gave us local area welcome chocolates which were so good, we went to the retail store on two different occasions to buy. We also had a suite / larger room upgrade which was appreciated with early check-in and late check out. The hotel itself is located in the Braddon area which is great bc is short walk to funky bars, restaurants, street art, and a host of other retail and food/drink amenities. It is close by to the Canberra Center shopping mall and also around the corner from an Avis/Budget for easy car rental. It is not far from the major sites like the War Memorial, Parliament House, Royal Mint, etc. by car, or if you were brave like us, walk to some (at least one way with the jaguar pickup on return). There is a great pool and gym, and while we were given free alacarte breakfast at their restaurant which had no restrictions on amount or ordering, the place itself could stand on its own as a place you want to go eat. My wife thought the porridge we had one morning was the best she has had ever anywhere in the world. Again amazing service as well in the restaurant. Clearly this hotel is run very well run from top to bottom, given the universally good experience from every staff member. I have never recommended a hotel in Australia before as a great one but this is definitely a great one, that the management and staff should be proud of.

The staff have been incredibly helpful, personable and kind. They made us feel so welcome during our stay and took great care of us, whether we needed help or during food and drink service. Great food and reasonable prices. Their knowledge of wine is impressive and their signature cocktails are some of the best I’ve had - they even went as far as to make us a special ‘off the menu’ cocktail. I would be so happy to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone.

Brand new hotel in a great location in Braddon, the hipster section of Canberra. Rooms well appointed, mini bar included in the price, delicious breakfast at Braddon Merchant downstairs. Great value and linked up with Marriott Bonvoy.

Very noisy and my room had a mouldy smell. What makes matters worse is housekeeping like to steal. The hotel won’t accept liability for what they steal. I recommend you stay elsewhere. Quest City Walk is in a much better location.
