Budget Car & Truck Rental Melbourne City

I’d give zero stars if I could. Showed up and they didn’t have the ute we booked a week prior available… just didn’t have it… Blamed the third party booking (Expedia). I had also spoken to Budget a few days prior about extending the rental and they said they’d get back to me but never did. Staff was absolutely useless and didn’t even try to find a solution. I came up with several solutions that they couldn’t even be bothered to think of themselves… eventually walked out because the staff very clearly didn’t care and didn’t want our business. Went next door to Hertz and they sorted us out and had lovely staff.

Avoid at all costs. We prepaid for a car hire in Melbourne, pick up from Franklin st Budget. Arrived to collect vehicle which wasn’t there… and then inconveniently their eftpos machine didn’t work. They said we could hire a vehicle from them as the card authorisation wouldn’t work due to eftpos issues (this is a card we used throughout our trip with no issues). They said they had issued a full refund. Even fabricated a reference number when I called their assistance line. Only to be confirmed by my bank that this refund had not been submitted. Kindly return my money: Confirmation Number: 10877602AU1 Such a scam of a situation. Please read all the comments on Instagram and Facebook regarding Budget and avoid at all costs. Still awaiting our refund. It’s been a terrible ordeal trying to get our money back for a service we didn’t even receive. Also- their call centre is in the Phillipines with people working from home who put you on hold for 40mins… save your time!!

Fuss-free. Decent car. Good value. We also managed to extend our car by a day thru a call. No cash - all payment via credit card. Thank you team.

I would like to give them minus (negative) rating if its possible. My friend reserved a car from them for 4:30pm and when we were there to pick up rented car, We were left outside of their closed office. My friend tried calling their office and their agents just wasted his 2 hours holding him in call and transferring call from one person to another. We were left with no car at the last minute as he had to drop one of my friend to @ melbourne avalon airport and we had to arrange alternative transport at last moment which cost us a alot…. Please better think twice before renting car from here, it was such a horrible experience 😡
