Banana Leaf Restaurant

The lamb was slow cooked perfectly and the spicy gravy compliments the blenched broc leave. The milk rice comes with spices and goes in well with the whole dish. This dish however can be modified to another level. The best thing about banana leaf is, it’s comes with many different taste ( the sweet, sour, spicy, and sour.) I wonder if we have any food comes together with all this favours?

Went here during a visit to Canberra and absolutely loved this place. The best Sri Lankan restaurant I've been to so far in Australia! Unlike a lot of other establishments here, these guys actually stay true to the unique Sri Lankan flavors. The ambience was also nice and the service was excellent!

We decided to try Banana Leaf after some recommendations from friends, and they did not disappoint! We ordered the village set and lamprais for three adults, and it was more than enough food for us, with some leftovers. Every bite we had of the different curries, meats, and sides was amazing and flavourful. The roti was fresh and I’m only regretful that I didn’t order more. The only thing we did have that I was a bit disappointed in was the mango lassi. It was different than what I was used to, but it was a drop in the ocean when compared to everything else.

Full Star ✨ on and on , very nice authentic and delicious food. One of the greatest eateries I have discovered in Canberra for a genuine Sri Lankan cuisine with polite personnel and reasonable prices. This restaurant is located near to the Canberra casino under a very good option for lunch and dinner.

I have to add to the hype associated with Banana Leaf. Food was creative, delicious and high quality. We ordered roti+dip as an entree, a side of lentil curry and two mains between four people. I'll be returning to try the tasting menu!

Amazing food in a very slightly more relaxed atmosphere than fine dining restaurants. It took a while to get waitstaff attention initially but service was top notch after that. Our 2 dishes were exquisite and we'll order them again when we return with other people to share the experience with. The chicken and fish in the banana leaf was an unusual combination but the spices were fragrant and suited to a tee. Beware the chilli sambal on the side, full of flavour but packs a punch of heat! The pork and mash was also outstanding with what a think was a rich sauce with plenty of coriander. The mustard pickle suited perfectly and wasn't overpowering. 5 stars for these dishes, they knocked these outof the park!

Visited during lunch time. Ordered the briyani - was fantastic! Would recommend to come during lunch as I prefer their lunch menu! 😍 Flavours were on point, coming from a Southeast Asian Heritage, I’d say it’s good!

Parking is hard to find. Booking is easy. The menu is pretty varied. The service was awesome. The food came out timely but I must say the food was a little less creative than what I was expecting. The prices are also reasonable. Loved the whole ideal. Just wasn't really blown away with the flavours.
